Hearing Test Standards for AROTC

All,

My apologies if this is a duplication and already posted here. My daughter had her hearing test yesterday and there are concerns due to a history of mild hearing loss. Are there standards out there somewhere that show the max/min standards for the test?
I found the link below which was mentioned in a previous post a couple of years ago but it doesn't give specifics.

Straight from the Standards of Medical Fitness:

2–7. Hearing

a. Audiometers, calibrated to standards of the International Standards Organization (ISO 8253:1 1989) (reference (c)) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI 1996), will be used to test the hearing of all applicants. b. All audiometric tracings or audiometric readings recorded on reports of medical examination or other medicalrecords will be clearly identified.

c. Current hearing threshold level in either ear greater than that described below does not meet the standard: (1) Pure tone at 500, 1000, and 2000 cycles per second for each ear of not more than 30 decibels (dB) on theaverage, with no individual level greater than 35 dB at those frequencies.

(2) Pure tone level not more than 45 dB at 3000 cycles per second or 55 dB at 4000 cycles per second for each ear. (3) There is no standard for 6000 cycles per second.

All,

We received the following remedial requesting that she be retested. Does anyone have experience on the difference between this test and the one she had before?

Obtain a comprehensive audiometry threshold evaluation and speech recognition REQUIRES A PHYSICIAN'S APPOINTMENT: PHYSICIAN INSTRUCTIONS: Please obtain a comprehensive audiometry threshold evaluation and speech recognition evaluation to include a written interpretation and report.
 
My guess is that they are the same, but someone with knowledge in that particular field can correct me. My advice to you is to use a doctor/audiologist that you are comfortable with. Do not just go to one assigned by dodmets. You will have to pay for the appointment, but the retest has an important impact and is worth the investment.

In addition, try to find a physician with a military background and thus trulyunderstands the DoDMERB standards.
