Say it ain't so...

"The Sanctuary of Misery." A keeper.

I still have my yellow BattO PS detail shirt I wore that says "Dant Staff." It's down in the loaner drawer. Youngster sponsor mids searching for "Navy gear" to wear at the house love to break that one out.

It's all as Hoops says. Casual gear and businesslike manner while getting them organized and through the logistics hoops. Appropriate uniform for oath. Now they are plebes. Let the games begin. As a non-grad, I was in awe of the Jedi mind-switch that rocked the plebes back on their heels once the big doors shut.

The hour it took us to get back to our rooms after the swearing in was he worst hour of all of Plebe Summer. We didn't do the March in, we just got told to report back to company area. For those who have been in Bancroft you could imagine how 1200 new Plebes who are being dropped every half step, screamed at like they never imagined, couldn't figure out how to get to their rooms... well let's just say it is chaos. It is funny thinking about it now.

@NavyHoops - did you have AC? Add in the muggy hot p'ways filled with sweating plebes in new whiteworks that had that sizing stuff which reacts with human sweat to form the miasma known as the plebe stink. I retreated to my office first time I stuck my head out and got a whiff, finally figured out it was all those humans chopping and turning outside my door on 6-0, making the turn to the ladder.

I remember back in 2001, in August walking up the stairs to the 4th floor in Mother B. The heat was incredible. Clothes sticking to the body, ugh. Im sure glad the kids have AC now.

No we did not have A/C and I spent Plebe Summer on 6-4. About as miserable as it can get. We never had a black flag day. Come to find out the wet bulb machine wasn't working right the entire summer.
