NROTC 4 Year Reapplication & the impact of college credits earned in HS

All,

I'm reapplying for the 4 year NROTC scholarship as a freshman entering TAMU this fall and I'm trying to understand the 30+ semester hours / 45+ quarter hours limitation on my application.

While in HS, in the summer before my senior year, I took 8 college credits at a community college. This fall I'm taking 13 credits at TAMU and not sure about what I'll be taking at TAMU for the spring semester but it most likely will be between 13 and 16 credits.

Trying to find out whether taking those 8 college credits in HS will render me ineligible to reapply for the 4 year NROTC scholarship. I'm just finishing up my application now.

Does anyone have any insight on whether I can reapply for the 4 year scholarship or will these 8 credits render me ineligible.

Thank you for the reply. I'll have my completed reapplication for the 4 year NROTC completed this week before leaving for TAMU. I'm leaving for school this Sunday and hope to meet with NROTC after fish week to review my application and schedule an AFA. I've been working to maximize these scores over the summer. Do you have a suggestion on when I should submit my completed application to NRTOC? Some have said as early as possible and others said after meeting with my NROTC advisor on campus

You should call your unit and ask. They can give you some direction based on how they normally do scholarships with freshmen.

Just a quick question. How does the board know if those classes are college credit? On my HS transcript it blends in with HS classes. It labels Dual Enrolled on cover page.

I'm not sure how Dual Enrollment works as my HS doesn't offer that. In my case, I registered for summer classes at a community college and they provided me with a transcript that I sent.

From the NROTC web site:

• College credits do not count until an applicant has graduated high school and completed a term of college; then all college credits earned (prior to and after high school graduation) count towards the eligibility requirements.
• If you are a high school graduate and complete a term of college prior to submitting your application, all college credits earned (in high school and in college) are counted towards the credit limit.

Submit your application as a HS senior or during the fall semester of your freshman college year and those dual enrollment college credits do not matter.
