Good morning,

I am currently in the process of applying EA to the c/o 2022. I have an SAT score with writing, and an ACT score without writing. For reference, my ACT score is significantly stronger than my SAT. Does anyone know if the Academy will consider my ACT composite score (without writing), since I completed a writing portion with the SAT test?

Feedback from AO when DS was in process was that we could not "cherry pick" across ACT/SAT but I will be honest and say I do not know if that would also include writing. It was more about if we got a great math score in ACT and a great writing/reading score in SAT we could not expect admissions to take the separate scores from the two different tests to up the final ranking.
Suggest contacting your AO and verifying.

Also suggest contacting AO. I heard conflicting information about ACT /SAT conversions, and I asked this specific question at AIM parents day this summer. I was told by AO that they would convert an ACT score to SAT score. I only asked about math scores.

Perhaps Chuck20's experience is more recent and the CGA has had a change. However, this is contrary to what admissions did for DS 3 years ago during his application process. They converted one component of the ACT (math) and used another component directly from the SAT. He did not request that they do this - so I believe they considered every component of every test and superscored to achieve a final computed SAT score.

Not sure about the other part of your question (will they consider one test taken without writing). DD is submitting EA this year and has taken the SAT with and without writing. She has not yet asked AO if both instances of the test will be considered.

Best advice (as stated above) is to ask the AO directly your specific questions.

Don't overlook the obvious: it's still early enough to sign up for the October ACT test date. If your application hasn't been evaluated by mid-November the results should be available for inclusion. If you're one of those people who does better on this test compared to that one, then retaking it and adding the writing might be a good course of action.

Would not be the first time that what is stated and what actually happens is different. We were told back in 2015 by admissions for class of 2020 that super scoring did not happen across ACT & SAT. At same time we were also told that nobody from regular admissions got on the wait list but that does happen. Exceptions do exist :).
