Hello everybody, my name is Daniel Ward schooled in Virginia and for a long time I have been particularly interested in the USAFA, and only the USAFA. What I could use here is possibly some speculation on my chances, what I could improve on, and previous experiences of the academy. Also, I'm applying to summer seminar soon.

GPA weighted:3.88
GPA unweighted: 4.5

Sat - in progress , speculating around a 1350 compared to PSAT scores and practice tests.

School:
Class size: 350 ish
Rank: 10
Class: Junior

Extra School info:
Attend High school
Community College
Commonwealth governor school ( a high school program based off full ap's hard classes and group environment )

Extracariculas:
NHS
Deca- officer , attended nationals for competition

Sports:
Middle School baseball 2013-2015
High School varsity baseball 1 fall
High School jv baseball 2016-2017

Wrap Up: I know I have a long time , I need to get my cfa scores scheduled, does anybody have some possible advice and what I can work on? I know I have time but I'm trying to get as far ahead as possible.

Based on this info, your extracurricular activities are weak. The Academy looks for involvement and leadership, and unless you've absolutely revolutionized DECA as an officer, I think you're going to find yourself falling short of other candidates. I recommend you look at the 100s of other chance-me posts to see if you're accomplishments are comparable regarding extracurriculars.

Thank you, I'm trying not to get so involved in extras, I am joining octagon which is all community service but I simply just don't know what else I should do.

By this I mean I don't wanna get so deep I can't focus on school / sports, and community college

just having good grades and standardized test scores doesn't mean you'll get in. SAs are not normal 4-year universities so they don't just look for the normal applicant material. You need extracurriculars, you need leadership experience, and you need to be physically fit. If you can't perform well in school at the same time as being involved in sports or clubs or community service or work then the spot at USAFA is going to go to the kids that can get the grades and the test scores AND do all of the other things that they look for. They don't throw around appointments to any kid with a 4.0 and a 30 on the ACT. You gotta earn it and do more if attending an academy is something you're serious about.

First off, don't let folks on forums get you down or pump you up. There are numerous threads related to your questions and concerns. No one here can tell you if you are competitive or not. Looking at your stats, you should be in the running. Regardless of what people say on these silly forums, GPA (with honors and AP classes) and SAT/ACT numbers are king! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The next thing that candidates should strive for are extracurricular activities: sports, clubs, community service, etc. Book worms and geniuses usually end up at Ivy leagues, MIT, Cal Tech, Stanford, etc. The academy is looking for a well rounded individual. More importantly, they are looking for leaders to run the world's greatest (so far) Air Force. As others have said, you can use some volunteer work and extracurricular activities. At this point, you'll need to apply and see where the chips fall. Be sure to apply for AFROTC scholarships as well. Remember the big picture: source of commission is a means to an end (in this case, the beginning). The prize is the butter bars and that's when the real race starts. Always strive to get your priorities in order and never give up.

Work on your SAT scores and seek leadership in your extracurriculars that is easily demonstrated. Make friends with your math and english teachers. Don't worry about taking the CFA until summer/fall of your senior year, but start preparing for it now.
