I was put on remedial and so I called my tech to check to see what happened and I was told that I had too much protein in my urine and I had to take the test again. This was understandable because I took the APFT the morning of my exam.

So I retook the test and saw the results for myself, which indicated no presence of protein (literally says negative). The doctor who reviewed my results also noted there were no abnormalities whatsoever in the other fields (glucose etc).

On Friday my remedial was reviewed but I am still placed in remedial, has this ever happened to anyone? Kinda frustrated because my window to contract and receive my scholarship this quarter is closing rapidly.

Here is my timeline:

Current Medical Status:Remedial Requested

13-JAN-17 Date applicant entered into DoDMERB system
13-JAN-17 Application Added
20-JAN-17 Actual date of exam
31-JAN-17 Date exam received at DoDMERB
31-JAN-17 Medical data entry
01-FEB-17 Date exam reviewed
08-FEB-17 Date letter sent - Remedial R263.02
10-FEB-17 Date exam reviewed

Quite likely it could be cleared in the next few days.
The exam review on the 10th was probably the new information being entered by the technician (at DoDMERB for further review by a Dr.
The 31-Jan entry was by Concorde not DoDMERB.

It . . . takes . . . time . . .

My DS had similar urinalysis remedial for sugar; went to our local Dr. for follow up test. Results sent in next day; 100% normal including negative retest of the flagged positive test from original DodMERB exam. Still took several weeks to get the 'qualified' portal update. Paperwork sits in the big pile until it gets reviewed and portal updated - just like any other bureaucracy.

I don't want to add to your frustration, but know that the urine test isn't even required by DoDMERB. It's optional.

Nonetheless, be patient. It will resolve itself.

DS#1 had to go through the same thing.

Yes - the remedial urinalysis anomaly my son had could have been caused by too many carbs for dinner etc. etc. etc.

It raised a flag for diabetes so they wanted a routine blood test as confirmation. Didn't want to deal with Concorde again so I just went to our family doctor to expedite the process. Picked up the lab results and paperwork next day and scanned them to DoDMERB myself. [NOTE - using my Dr. was explicitly OK per the remedial letter; govt just would not reimburse me. Don't go to your own Dr. unless you have this in writing.]

DS had the remedial for protein in the urine. He was running cross country and lifting weights regularly. After a few days rest, a retest and misplaced paperwork(twice) he received DODMERB clearance.

Can you select to be tested or does this depend on the doctor?

It is doctor-dependent from what I know.

However, before your exam, you might want ask the clinic/doctor if they are going to do the urinalysis.

If they are, then bring it to their attention that the urinalysis is optional. Then they might not perform it.

Just my thoughts.

With any urinalysis avoid having your sample be your first urination of the day.
Also when you give you sample urinate a some first and then fill the sample.
The initial stream may have higher concentrations of what is being checked for, particularly if it is your first urination of the day.
