Appointment

Ugh, I'm sorry. That's not what any of us want to hear. :(

What's her deadline for committing to the other college? DS has had several early action acceptances, but he doesn't need to respond until May 1. Your DD could always accept a spot at the other college, pay the deposit, and then if something changes at USCGA and she's admitted, she can go there. You'll be out a few hundred dollars for the deposit, but that's chump change compared to the education she'd be receiving.

Also, both of you should take time to process before making any big decisions. Disappointments stink, but you have to move through the sadness to get to the other side. Stay strong, mama.
:(

My DD just received a call from her AO. She has been waitlisted and she is/was a recruited athlete. I’m not sure what to make of all this. AO did not mention prep academy.

It’s such a difficult position for DD to be in. The waiting is bad enough,in addition she has a college waiting to hear back as well. They are holding a spot on the team for her but I’m pretty sure they can’t do that until spring.

—Feeling sad...
Between a fifth to a fourth of the incoming class every year is made up of cadets who went to a year of prep school and those who reapplied the next year after a year at prep school or enrolled in college. If the USCGA is the goal, my advice is don’t give up!

Quite a few waitlisters made it last year out of EA.

DD's portal updated with waitlist status to CGAS. She is disappointed but realizes the competition was quite fierce. She will accept the waitlist offer and push forward with USMA, USNA and USAFA. She has noms for USMA and USAFA and still has to hear from other senator and congresswomen so USNA is still in play as well. Plan B already is secured with 4 year AROTC scholly to first civilian school of choice. USCGA was her first choice and seeing the disappointment in my daughters face makes me realize how vested they have become in the process. If you child does not get the answer they hope for make sure you are there to help pick them back up as If they have gotten this far they probably have a very bright future and GOD has a different path in mind.

Best wishes to her! Sounds like she has a great path already set and more offers sure to come.

DS's page still has not updated, but judging from last year's tally at this time (about eight pages back on the USCGA forum), it was all waitlist given at the end of EA. That said, it looked like one-quarter of EAs were eventually given appointments, so odds are better, I suppose. Best of luck to everyone, and please keep us posted.

Were all the ones waitlisted today notified by phone call or just Bear's den? Thank you.
