Hey Guys,

So I have interviewed with Senator Toomey, Casey and Congressman Smucker (PA-16) and I haven't heard anything back from them in terms of a nomination decision. Word on the street is that we should be hearing back before christmas. Has anyone else in PA heard back?

My DS interviewed with Toomey, Casey and Rothfus (PA-12) as well. Was told that Casey will be notifying sometime in January and they consult with other MOCs prior to making decisions to "spread the wealth" to try to avoid duplicate nominations -- that's why they are a little later than others. I suspect the same may be true for Toomey. Rothfus' office told my DS he would hear by Christmas so ... fingers crossed. Good luck to you and try to enjoy your Christmas while I understand the waiting is tough...

Would it be polite to ask the MOC office whether their nomination was competitive or one of the principal systems?

Our state's MOC's do not award nominations until the end of January or early February. Does anyone have perspective on if that is (generally) late compared to other states, and if there is any disadvantage to the candidate?

Same with Massachusetts. I won’t be notified until the last week of January. Yes, this is very late, but I know from former applicants that this is pretty normal for MA.

DD received letter from Senator with nomination to the USAFA. Stated in letter that "competitive method of nomination" will be used. Few days ago, DD received LOA from USAFA. If nomination was the only admission requirement remaining, is she guaranteed an Offer of Appointment? DD concerned she has to compete for appointment.

DS received the nomination from Randy Hultgren (IL-14) in the mail yesterday, so he now has a nom from all 3 sources. Very surprised but happy and hoping this is a good sign.

I found out via a letter in the mail on the 15th. Looked on the portal afterward and it had been updated on the 13th.

The LOA states that the candidate is "assured of an appointment once you secure a nomination and satisfactorily complete any remaining admission requirements." If she has met all admission requirements as you state, then she should be guaranteed an appointment; i.e., there is nothing to compete for with the senatorial nomination: the LOA assures an appointment.

Yup...if she has the LOA awaiting a nomination and she just got the nomination then she is golden...an early congrats!!!
