SLE Admission Status 2018

I have a question regarding SLE admissions in regards to PSAT/SAT/ACT scores.

After inputting my PSAT and SAT scores into the system when I first registered, I then proceeded to look at my profile, which noted that my SAT score was unofficial while the PSAT score was verified and valid. My first question is whether the SLE admissions process will take my PSAT (official) and SAT (unverified) scores into consideration, or if they will only consider my PSAT scores, as it is the only confirmed score.

My second question is: with a 1440 (690V/750M) PSAT and 1540 SAT (740V/800M) while living in CA-45 as an Asian-American male, what are my chances of admissions to the SLE?

If you send them your SAT scores, you won’t have to worry about which one they take. Your SAT scores are extremely competitive and it would very much behoove you to pay the 10-20 dollars the College Board requires to send your score.

Nothing from myself or anyone I have spoken to.

Did you receive an email from DAD_DONOTREPLY West Point’s email just now stating the payment steps for the people who have been offered a seat to SLE 2018? I didn’t see any change in my status as of 30 minutes ago!

I did

This is true. Acceptance or denial to SLE is not an indicator that you will be rejected from West Point, provided that you work hard and raise your standardized test scores. If you are rejected from SLE, use it as a learning opportunity. Do not fret over it. I used the time I would have spent at SLE going to Girls State and preparing for/taking the ACT.

My regional commander told me the same thing!

I also received the email but it didn’t say anything about being accepted. Only that the payment system is being updated and their expectations are for the system to be fully operational by March 1st.

Your PSAT/SAT scores are very high! Congratulations! A 1540 on the SAT would definitely make you competitive for USMA. I don’t think your minority status as an Asian American would help though :(.

Regarding the SLE, I can’t say for sure whether those high scores will improve your chances. I submitted a high PSAT score (1430) and received by my SLE rejection sometime in April last year (RIP).

I think that the SLE admissions is so inundated with applicants every year, that they simply run out of available slots.

I hope this helps. Keep in mind that the SLE is by no means an indicator of whether you’ll receive an appointment to USMA.

Anyone else think these payment emails are a sign that they are gonna start sending out acceptance letters this week?

so I was totally going to do my CQ on January 15, and opened it, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Girls State and had applied to be an NHS officer. I didn't want to submit it if I couldn't go back and update if I got either of those things, so I emailed admissions and a cadet at USMA asking if I could update this later and didn't hear back at all. I gave up and submitted it at the beginning of February (and then figured out I could update everything). I'm hoping this doesn't have a bearing on acceptance, I know it's really competitive and slots fill up quickly...

Your scores, especially SAT, are very competitive, a 1540 falls easily in the top 25% of scores from people admitted
