NROTC 3rd Board results taking longer than usual?

DS portal not updated. Finished App in October, but as college programmer had to wait for first semester grade submission in January.

Thank you for the update! My dd portal hasn't updated, but I guess that's better than an update that she didn't get anything! So glad to see the action!

Question for anyone who might have experience with the NROTC application process...does each board release scholarship decisions at one time? In other words, if my DS's application says "No decision has been made" by selection status, does that indicate that he was not chosen in the early February board? It looks like two people got good news tonight, but there doesn't seem to be a rush of news.
Second question: is there any value to updating/contacting the officer who DS has been communicating with about his college acceptances? He's gotten in to all of the schools he listed. I'm wondering if this information might be helpful to his candidacy.

Yes, each board releases all their decisions at about the same time, or at least on the same day. If there has been no change in the selection status, it means he was not selected on this board that was just released and his application will be considered again at the next board. You're not out of the running unless you are notified that you will not be receiving a scholarship. There are typically more boards scheduled in March and April as they finalize the selections, so there are still a lot of opportunities. There is no benefit to contacting the officer your DS has been communicating with about college acceptances, while being awarded a scholarship may have some influence on acceptances at some universities, being accepted to a university does not increase the chances of being awarded a scholarship. Good luck.

Good luck to everyone waiting for the big news. One thing to keep in mind is that it seems the Navy is moving away from awarding as many 4 year NROTC scholarships in favor of more 2 and 3 year awards and Advanced Standing. This information was provided here previously by @NavyNOLA , who was a NROTC PNS at the time and had great information. So, if your goal is to become a naval officer but you are are not awarded a 4 year scholarship, join a unit as a College Programmer and work to earn a scholarship that way. You can also re-apply for the 4 year scholarship as a freshman in college now. Good Luck to all.

I can attest to this. I joined as a programmer and just received the four year scholarship as a freshman! Don't lose hope if you don't get it this time around.

How can you tell how long of a scholarship you've been awarded?

For NROTC you apply for a certain scholarship. As an incoming high school senior and during your first semester in college, you can apply for the 4 year national scholarship. If you are not awarded one of these you apply for a 3 year scholarship during the second semester of your freshman year of college. If you haven't been awarded a scholarship going into your sophomore year of college, you would apply for a 2 year scholarship and for Advanced Standing. If you have not earned a scholarship or Advanced Standing after two years, you cannot continue in the program.

Congrats - you don't need to say, but what university. DS is also waiting as college programmer.

Just in from local recruiting district... Boards scheduled for the remainder of the current selection year are:
5-9 Feb
26 Feb - 2 Mar
19-23 Mar
9-13 Apr
23-27 Apr
Can't vouch if these dates are 'amended' from original planned dates or not. Just FYI... Best of luck...
Are these boards the same for NROTC - MO - sideloads?

All Marine Option boards are separate from Navy boards. Side-load and transfers from Navy Option to Marine option happen in the same, but separate boards (based on my experience). That is to say, these are the only categories considered in that board. Not sure when that board occurs though. I would think your MOI should know, or at least give you some time frame.

At least in California, the last board results are showing up in portals today... my DS was not offered NROTC... onto Plan C!!
