USAFA Class of 2022 Appointment Thread

Hey, noticed that your DD is a Falcon Scholar. May I ask which school she attended? I too am a Falcon Scholar, but have not received an appointment yet.

Marion Military Institute. All the Falcons (9) there have gotten their appointments except for one, I understand, which is sad. A couple of the self preps got their appointments too. But Lt Gen Kelley had gotten in touch with the Colonel there 3 weeks ago saying the Falcons hadn't taken their 2nd SAT and so they had to do that before the appointments were given out. They did it that Saturday after he called and then my DD got her appointment 2 days later. Have you taken a 2nd SAT yet? The Falcons didn't know they had to take 2 SATs before that.

When someone on this thread posts Falcon Scholar, does that mean he/she is CURRENTLY in a prep situation? Or does it mean they've been appointed to the prep academy for next year?
My DS is nominated, still awaiting further news. Thanks!

Since this is the Class of 2022 appointment thread, it should mean a Falcon Scholar who received his/her appointment.
I believe the “type” was intended to give a little more info on the appointee, such as:
Direct appointment - current HS senior
Falcon - current Falcon prep
Prep - current Cadet Candidate at prep school
Self prep - prep school no scholarship
College reapplication
Prior enlisted

Maybe more but that’s all I could think of at the moment! There’s a little inconsistency and confusion, but these should all be appointees!!! Congrats everyone !!!

The academy gives out 60 Falcon Scholarships on average per year. So the ones saying Falcon Scholar are those that got those scholarships last year and have been at one of the approved prep schools during the year and got an appointment now for the AFA. My DD got a scholarship last year and is so thrilled now that she has had a year or preparing at a military institute (MMI) so she will be much better prepared for the academy now.
