Appointments 2022

Yup, Plan B all set, she knows where she will end up, should she not get an appointment. Would be nice to find out one way or the other as she will go ROTC if she doesn't get to the USMA. We are moving south, and trying to put pieces in place!! Lots of moving parts, which change with where she goes, but we have the plan B side locked down.

Of course they could offer an AOG scholarship and then you will be on to plan C. It seemingly never ends. Two years and still waiting!

Hi everyone,
Į have applied to be a part of the class of 2022 at west point. I am curious to know if anyone has received an appointment yet or found out if they have a nomination? If not, when do you guys think this will all start come out?
Thanks!
I believe the window closes in two days for submitting applications for appointments. Our son has 4 nominations but does not have an LOA , the process is a bit confusing , not sure if having these nominations pushes him further up on the list or not. I am assuming an LOA is more assuring in the process moving forward?

It can be quite confusing to us noobs but I have found this forum to be a treasure trove of information and sympathy for the struggle. Read around on these forums and soak in as much as you can. There are a lot of us going through the same things.

I am not an expert and this is just my understanding based on going through the same process with my DD who also has four nominations and no LOA. Assuming your son's file is qualified, then he will be considered on four different slates. If he is the top candidate on one of those slates, or the principal nominee on one of those slates he will be offered an appointment. If he is not offered an appointment at that time, he will go on the waiting list and possibly offered an appointment later in the process.

When my wife and DD did the overnight visit, my wife came away with the understanding that more nominations could help with folks on the waiting list or could improve the whole candidate score. However, I have not read that anywhere else and it could have easily been a misunderstanding because there was a lot of new information to absorb. I have been the one who has done most of the reading on this process and it was all brand new to my wife (I had to stay home and take care of the dogs LOL).

Good luck with the process.

Thank you, it is very tedious. My son is trying to not get in front of the offer, but I know it must be hard to wait. Luckily he did get the a full scholarship on the first wave for ROTC so either way he will achieve his goal.

I just checked with my husband and he has told me that your wife is correct. My son was invited to spend three days at the Navel Academy and was interviewed by admissions ( he actually only applied to Westpoint) they told him that every nomination you receive helps to add points to your package.

We just went today for my daughter to do her PMS interview and I was really impressed with the operation there. They took a lot of time to answer our questions and they even let my DD talk to an instructor in the program who graduated from West Point since they knew she was also in the process there. He gave her a lot of information and everyone made it clear that both are great options and that it was her choice. They put no pressure on her at all. It was great.

Multiple nominations are not included in the WCS calculation as it would not be fair to the candidates as these things are outside of some's control. It is almost impossible to get more than one MOC nomination in some states.

It completely depends on the MOC's policy. It does help in that you have more chances to compete.

Thank you for your information , it’s unfortunate that this type of information isn’t just posted so that a clearer understanding of the process is understandable. I guess the hardest part is waiting. My husband attended the Airforce Academy and the process was much different back in the old days. I am sure Westpoint has a well oiled process.

What is “PMS” interview?
For the Army ROTC four year scholarship, all applicants have to interview with a Professor of Military Science (PMS) at an ROTC school. I am not sure if it is the same for the other ROTC programs.

I think it all depends on various circumstances when acceptances are issued! My DS is a college reapplicant this year, he spent one semester as a free agent at a prep school after being rejected out of high school. Honestly, best decision he made, I think it better prepared him for the future whether he was to be accepted or not. I would pay for it all over again if that’s what he wanted! We honestly didn’t expect to hear when we did, but his portal updated to qualified on Jan 24, got the call from congressman on Jan 25 and BFE came the following Friday!! Moral to the story is don’t give up, I’m sure there are still waves of acceptance still coming, just make sure you have a plan B in place and if this is something you really want reapply!! Good luck to everyone still waiting

Yes I do recall my son interviewing with two different College ROTC LT. Col. I just didn’t realize it was called PMS.

The wait is killing me!!
The wait is the hardest part of the process but everyone single aplicant, to have made it this far is a worthy candidate, whether a slot is given or not, I wish everyone luck and what ever happens you should all know that you are all amazing students/scholars / athletes and community members. You are all destined for amazing accomplishments

We are all going to make it, no one gets left behind and never give up trying to furfill your full potential
