Summer Seminar 2018

I did not get notified until the last day of February. I had friends get notified in March. When did you submit your application?

I submitted my application approximately 6PM PST on the day when the application opened.

I applied as an immigrant though (one of the questionnaire asked this whether if i was an immigrant or citizen)... I'm not sure if that impacts anything (hopefully not)..

DS has been accepted now to NASS and SLE for the same week. He is dying to go to both! Anyone with this experience and how was it handled? Congrats to everybody accepted. For those not accepted don’t lose hope. I know plenty of graduates from The Naval Academy who didn’t get accepted to NASS.

I have written about this in another post;however, I will do it again.
1. Pack very light your going to get a lot of new clothing.
2. Bring a large what you “think” will be too big of a bag (hockey if you have one). Believe me you will need the room.
3. Bring a couple of plastic garbage bags (you will have wet clothing to carry home).
4. If you want to keep you very tough stained nightmare gear wash them over and over and over.... do not dry them until you feel you got everything out that you could.
5. Enjoy yourself, my son still talks about his time at NASS and he commissions this May.

Great advice! We left our DS' clothes in in the back of a rental car for two days after NASS while touring around the area - by day-two the smell was awful and we ended up having to wash them in a hotel bathtub! Congratulations to your son on commissioning soon!

Our DS is in the same boat. When he applied to NASS and SLE he put the dates he was available to both, being Session 1 and 3 for NASS and Session 1 for SLE. (He has Boys state the week in between.) He was accepeted into NASS early Feb and had to accept and pay for NASS before he heard back from USMA which put him in a pickle because SLE would be his choice if he had to pick one. His ideal/dream would be to do both. DS sent a message to NASS asking if it is possible to move to Session 3. If he doesn't hear back soon he will try calling but the website said to use the contact form first so that's what he did.

Anyone have any advice for this situation? I have searched the forum and it does appear some students have been able to switch sessions in the past.

Alternative - give up space at NASS and just got to SLE at WP and allow someone else who's 1st pick is NASS to get the experience.

I’m currently in the same situation trying to move into NASS Session 3 instead of Session 1, but the admissions council has not yet responded. I’m not sure if I should give calling a try. If you do choose to call and receive a response, please let me know.

starting to lose hope for NASS:(
Keep in mind that NASS is primarily a marketing tool for USNA and a summer training opportunity for upperclass mids. Your acceptance or denial has virtually no bearing on your opportunity to secure an appointment to USNA. My son went to a CVW early in his junior year of high school, and very few of the mids he talked to had attended NASS. My son wasn't selected for NASS but received an appointment to USNA a year later. Same for his roommates. If you aren't invited to a CVW by early in your senior year, ask your admissions counselor about it. It'll actually give you a better look at the real academy than NASS.

Called today and now my DS is in NASS 1st session and SLE 2nd. Was taken care of with a phone call.
