@AFA-Joe
1. Just because somebody in your congressional district received an appt doesn't mean that his/her appt was charged to your congressman. It could have been charged to a senator (maybe even the senator who didn't nominate you) or even a presidential nomination. You don't know, unless you know for certain that that particular appointee only had one nomination source (your representative). And even if he/she was appointed from your representatives's slate, others on the list are still eligible for appointments. Some representatives have several appointed from the same slate.
2. What Senator calls went our yesterday? Certainly not everybody's Senator made calls yesterday. Only some did - across the nation. Do you know for certain that the Senator who nominated you made calls yesterday?
3. Yes, you can end up in the national pool, from which 300-400+ are offered appointments. If your application is strong, it's not that much of a crapshoot. Only a third of appointments have been made so far, plus a few more have been notified by phone that they will be receiving an appt within a week. Still many left to go. Appointments come from now until June, although most will occur in the next 4-5 weeks.
4. Plan B needs to be developed out as if you were definitely going there. That's always the case.
Even appointees need to keep up their plan B in case of physical injury between now and I-day.
Unless you know something we don't know from your comments above, it is too early to call it over.
