Still hope?

Just got a text from my boy. TWE email and update on portal. Next stop UT-Cockrell school of engineering. Chemical engineering that is. Haven’t spoke to him yet so not yet sure if he plans on re-applying. To soon to ask I am sure. Nicest group of people that I ever met that I never met. Moderators, BGO’s everybody, WORLD CLASS!!

So sorry to hear. Excellent Plan B. Quite right to let him have his space about re-applying. If he wants to serve as an officer, he will figure out how to get there.

So sad to hear that the wave today was not the one hoped for. Kudos to all of the amazing young men and women who took the challenge and stayed the course. I pray that after the heartbreak isn't so new, that they all will rise to the challenge of re-applying if this is truly their dream. I am sure all have excellent plan B's which now become plan A.
Grow where you are planted and it always works out.
To the parents of these fine candidates, stay as strong and stoic as your kids and just remind them that they are amazing and that you are rooting for them no matter the path they choose. I know I am rooting for them all!

Just heard from my DS- also got the dreaded TWE email and portal update. He was disappointed but wondered about wait list? Last year, a friend in another district received a TWE but then got a call in June- while another received a TWE one week but a BFE another week. We are not sure how the wait list works- can anyone explain? Does USNA let you know you are wait listed, or if you receive TWE do you assume you are at the end of the road for 2022? Like many others, my DS has been preparing for USNA for years, and the news is difficult, but I admire his positive outlook. He is hoping for wait list.

I don't know if they let you know if you are "wait-listed". Once you receive a TWE that is pretty much it. Some people do get the call later because a spot is available in the class, but it's so rare that it is never something you should plan on. I recommend proceeding to Plan B, and if they call you later you can be pleasantly surprised.

TWE email for us, too. NY-23. :( Still waiting to hear from USMA and USAFA. (USMA Firstie brother and USAFA Old Grad father are sad for DS, since it was his first choice, but they might secretly be glad...)

Good back up plan at VT. But a sad day, still.

A TWE is a TWE and it's over for this year. I specifically asked Admissions that question a couple of years ago when one of my candidates was given conflicting info.

I suspect that your DS's friend actually received a WL notification, not a TWE. I can't explain why a TWE and then a BFE other than some weird mix-up. USNA has a double review system before a TWE is sent out b/c it is such a final decision. I suppose errors can happen but they are extremely rare.

Those selected for the WL will be so notified. At some point between now and I-Day -- could be as late as late June -- they will either get a TWE or appointment. Because USNA has a very high yield rate and based on the last few years, most of those who are WL'ed will likely ultimately receive a TWE. Some years no one comes off the WL. So anyone who is WL'ed should absolutely proceed with alternative plans. If good news comes, that's terrific, but I wouldn't plan on it.

Received TWE email couple of hours ago CA-39. Still hoping for USAFA and USMA.

DD received her TWE today as well CA-50. She was offered a 4-year NROTC scholarship and accepted to one of her top 3. Good luck to everyone else.

Wait listers are indeed notified. In fact, they have to let USNA know (via portal) if they want to be on the wait list or not.

Thank you for the information- it is very helpful. DS has a solid Plan B, and still waiting to hear from other SA's.

TWE here in VA.

DS has an AFROTC scholarship that he'll use at VT, where he'll be in the Corps of Cadets. I'm certain he will love it there!

Thanks for the advice, encouragement, and companionship on this very long journey. I have no doubt that our hard-working, tenacious and bright kids will have unbelievably bright futures!

Off we go into the wild blue yonder, y'all. Peace out!

Congrats on the NROTC!! CA-50 is competitive, we know 2 that was offered and accepted (recruit and academic) and another academic CA-52 accepted.

DS CA-51 remains CPR (USNA and NROTC) Admitted to SDSU, USD and UCSD.

Best wishes to all aspiring sailors....

Sorry to hear about all these TWEs. I know it hurts. Fortunately it looks like many have strong second or third choices that soon won't have you looking back. I wish all the very best.

Thanks K...So talked to my son. Was a bit more bummed than I expected, but couldn’t be more proud of how he handled it. Said (I didn’t ask)“Dad give me a month To figure out UT, and then I’ll decide what to do. “ my response. “Done!”
Best of luck to all.

TWE here in CT......Looks like DS was far from alone. Thanks to everyone who emphasized from the beginning the need for Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, etc. It is so very vital!!! DS followed the advice and will attend VMI with NROTC-MO scholarship. A pretty sweet Plan B if you ask me. My point being for any "rising candidates" who may read this, there are different paths to travel to reach your goals. Don't ever give up !! Best wishes to the others who received the TWE ...you are all awesome individuals who are willing to serve their country! Thank you to all who have offered advice, moderated, commented and unknowingly encouraged.

I am so sorry to see TWE's. I wish the best to all of our DD's and DS' when they go at it again next year.....

My DD has been offered USNA Foundation and she's extremely grateful for the opportunity. She's now deciding which of the Foundation schools to apply to, and looking forward to join USNA Class of 2023.

Now to the point of my post....her portal changed from this morning's "You are being considered for sponsorship into the USNA Foundation Program" to this evening's "Complete Pending Review." We don't want to read too much into this, as it may mean nothing. Regardless, does anyone have a clue what may be going on?
