After our DS was appointed he requested to go to one of the CVW and they signed him up for it.Does USNA offer appointee visits?
Neither did I. I attended the CVW in November as was under the impression that that would the last CVW. I did not know that you can request to visit the campus after having been offered an appointment. It is too late to sign up now?
We thought it was by invitation only.
Thank you.
Yes, you can request it after the appointment. DS went to one the winter of his senior year after he was offered an appointment. He also did a visit to West Point after being offered an appointment there, as well. Going to both of them, after knowing he was already accepted to both, allowed him experience both through a different lense and helped him to make his final decision about which one to choose. I would highly recommend it if you have any uncertainty at all and are trying to make your final decision.Neither did I. Thank you.I did CVW last year in Janurary and I'll tell you that was a great experience but all it did was solidify that I wanted to go to USNA, you're already accepted. Even if you have the money I would not recommend going to Annapolis, you're about to live there for 4 years. Take the cash and head out somewhere new, exotic, and meaningful.
He ended up choosing West Point. In the beginning, he was leaning toward USNA, but he could see himself at either academy and serving in either branch. In the end, he said USMA felt more like home to him and he felt more of a cooperative spirit amongst the cadets and less of a competitive one, that he felt at USNA. Both of us parents were Army Officers and his dad a USMA grad, so I'm sure he had a special spot in his heart for that. His older sister went NROTC and he loved all that he heard about the Navy from her too. I think he always saw himself more as a ground type of a guy, instead of being on the ocean. I'm really sure he would have been happy no matter which he would have chosen. If you don't mind asking which Academy did your son choose and now attending? What made him decide on the Academy he is now attending? Thank you.
My son did a visit after receiving his appointment. He was pretty sure he wanted to go to Navy, but had an appointment from West Point and a NROTC scholarship at Notre Dame. He found it very useful and it did help him solidify his decision.Does USNA offer appointee visits?
