Heartbroken is an understatement. I've dedicated every aspect of my life, to my dream of attending the Naval Academy. Getting denied last year was tough, but I bounced back, improved my CFA, retook the SAT's, tried my best to mirror a plebe like schedule, made Deans List here at Virginia Tech, BGO interview couldn't have went any better, and yet here I am, waking up to the same email that I did last April 15th. My heart still burns for USNA, but its hard to think that after giving everything that I have to give and getting denied, what would make them change their mind for next year. Congratulations to everyone who has received an appointment. Take pride in your great accomplishment, but don't take it for granted. Many people would give anything to be in your shoes. Also, thank you to everyone in the Service Academy Forums family. I have learned so much from everyone, and I can't thank you enough. BEAT ARMY everyone!

You are amazing to have dedicated yourself to this so completely. I'm sorry that it didn't happen this year. :( I must say that I think you'll be very successful in your life due to your spirit of resolve and your hard work - even if there are disappointments along the way.

I would have enjoyed having a JO with your drive, persistence and positive attitude in my wardroom. You have a lot to offer. Whether or not you go after USNA again, I hope you are on a path to a commission. Any Service would be fortunate to have you.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm afraid my son is going to be in the same boat. We are still waiting, and he just finished his "knob" requirements at the Citadel. As I tell him, there are many roads to the same location. You will still serve and be an officer!

This is a great post for all reapplicants to read. Many think it's automatic.. it's not.

Good luck to you, you can still serve and excel. I hope you do!

VT is an amazing school and was very tough for Class of 2022 to get into this year. You'll be well prepared for life after college whether that be a military career or a civilian career.

That's rough. Can only imagine how painful that feels when you've worked so hard. Just bear in mind that you did every single thing that you could have. It sucks that life events like this are often simply out of your hands. Regardless of this decision, your persistence still indicates a strong drive to succeed that will surely serve you well wherever you end up. Best of luck at V Tech and beyond.

First of all, very sorry that you received this news. I suggest you first give yourself time to get over the raw pain. Then, if you think you want to reapply, I suggest you have a heart-to-heart with your RD. Wait until at least mid-May (preferably June/July) to do this. Explain you tried to do everything right this year and it didn't work. You don't want to three-peat this process so what should you do better/differently. In all honesty, if you get a "it's a numbers game; just keep trying" response, you may need to consider whether it's worth going through this again. But the only ones who see your entire record in comparison to other applicants are in Admissions, so they are the only ones who can give you concrete guidance.

The above said, VT is a terrific school. You are obviously excelling there and are sure to continue to do so!

Sorry to hear. At the end of the day, you put it all out there and gave it a shot. Give yoursel some time to handle this then regroup. My room mate one year at USNA was a 3 time applicant.
Will do. Its comforting knowing that other people have indeed been successful after being denied more than once. Thank you!

Thank you so much, and it'll be okay, ill bounce back better than ever!

Wow thank you so much! That really means a lot, and is very humbling. I WILL commission, even if its not via USNA.

Best of luck to your son. Congrats to him on making it through a very tough year at a very tough school. Regardless of what USNA says, he will do just fine!

Sorry to hear this, but glad to know kids like you are walking around on this rock with me.

I have faith in you TG; you'll get to where you need to be. The only question is which road you will travel to get there.
Thank you so much! I won't let anything stop me from getting there!

Thank you so much! I hope to inspire others to continue to stand up after getting knocked down, and constantly strive for their dreams no matter what.

Thank you! I love VT, but its not quite USNA :)

Thank you so much man! I was hoping I would see you in Annapolis this summer. At this rate, you'll be a PS detailer before I get in so take it easy on me when the day comes :D:D

Thank you so much! Ive already emailed my BGO and will definitely be reaching out to my RD about what I can improve on.

I am so sorry for your news. If you choose to reapply, there are several 2020s that have 2 or even more years of prestigious college under their belts. The plus is that they do very well academically at USNA when so many struggle. Best of luck either way.
