I recently received the 4-year scholarship, but I am currently medically disqualified for USNA, which probably means that I will also be medically DQ'd for NROTC. Is there anyone who has been in this situation and would like to give some tips? Also, should I contact the unit at my selected school for further information?

Thanks in advance.

I would love to hear some insight on this as well — DS is in the same boat, with waiver pending for USNA and NROTC.

Any waiver is up to the commissioning authority. NROTC might reach a different decision that USNA, at least in theory. It certainly wouldn't hurt to call the unit at the college to determine the best path for proceeding. Keep in mind a waiver may never come through so you could end up on the hook for tuition, at least until the waiver comes through (if it does).

I hate to say this but it’s pretty tough to get a waiver from the USN for DVA not correctable to 20/20.

I’m assuming your astigmatism is so bad that it’s causing you to not be correctable to 20/20. It could also be something else causing your condition though.

Good luck anyway.
