They have sections there for incoming students as well as others. You'll get some sense of the unit's activities. You should also contact the freshman adviser, if you can find time, just to let him know you're accepting the scholarship and are planning on attending.

Oh yeah, hope you like cleaning up football stadiums at zero dark thirty after home games. They also have the best tailgate parties I've ever been to.

DS received an email and portal update that he has been selected for NROTC "National Navy Option" scholarship. In the documentation, we're not seeing two piece of info:
1) Which Tier is it? - I see in the list above that folks are listing Tiers but not listed in the documentation he received - he plans on studying mechanical engineering
2) What is the "respond by" date? - I don't see it listed anywhere as well

Thanks in advance for any insight for where we might find answers to these two questions. Perhaps this info will all be made clear when eventual hard copy letter arrives.

By the way, as non-military parents, this forum has been an amazing resource as we have worked through the SA and ROTC application and decision making process...Thanks to all who provide such great insight!
 
I have seen other posts that said the tier wasn't identified in the email but was in the letter they received a bit later.
I think you have 30 days, but there is no reason not to respond and accept it now. If you're still waiting on school admission decisions you can try to transfer the scholarship if needed. Also, it's not a legally binding commitment. If you're accept to an academy, or even just changed your mind, you can let them know you will not be using the scholarship. No harm, no foul.

Congratulations! How did you make the change to Purdue?
 
My DD transfered her scholarship as well; It’s rather simple. My DD filled out the online transfer request, printed it, signed it, sent it out late on a Monday night to the board (email provided on the transfer) and by 11AM the next morning it was approved.

This does not mean it will be equally fast for others or if others will be approved it’s only how it worked for our DD.

#2 update...added UMich as a possibility, since DD just visited and really liked it. Have not visited MIT yet (visiting in mid-April)

Maybe lost one and picked one up? Purdue is an amazing school too. DS and I both really liked it a lot. He just loved Michigan though. What impressed us most about the NROTC unit when we visited the first time was that a Midshipman met us first, showed us around and answered questions, then introduced us to some of the unit staff. Coming from a scouting background, where the concept is a "boy led troop" that really clicked. The staff there is top rate, although there is some turnover, which is to be expected. Beyond the unit though, the campus is incredible; that's what really sold him.

Turn down from USNA a week ago. After bitter disappointment, we were very excited about this opportunity. Looks like Michigan for DS next year. Hope to get a few tips from ProudDad17.

And now there are 2 blue fans....

GoblueDad, tell your DS to rest easy my DS who will commission this May got turned away from USNA as well. He was a recruited athlete and was bummed. He was awarded NROTC early on during his HS Sr year and took it much like what your DS is doing. He was going to reapply and did; however, he was so happy with the College he is attending he remained where he was.

This same action just happened to our DD. Turned away from USNA but awarded NROTC. Bummed for a short time until she had the chance to speak with her brother. He feed her very unbiased clear information about his experiences. She dug in read a little more about her scholarship and school choices and is now one very happy young lady.

I have the opportunity to work with Naval Officers every day. I was talking to a LT who had the choice of NROTC or the Academy. He took the academy; he spoke highly of the school and did not regret it. He went on to say that kids that are on NROTC need to understand they actually have it a little better with a normal college life.

Last thing... My DS also explained the advantages of being a T3 to my DD. He told the mids in his unit about his sister getting T3 and they were jealous. Get involved, maintain a great gpa and go go out high on the list for ship selection.
