Just received BFE

Congratulations! Did your DD accept the appointment right away? I am guessing USAFA only mail out the BFE to the oppointee when an offer is accepted?

USAFA does not mail out BFEs, they show up on your portal
 
The BFE shows up on the portal and then you are mailed a lovely certificate from your ALO. At least that's how it worked last year with my DD. Could be different in different districts.

1. Appointment certificates are being mailed directly to appointees this year due the the change in how the ALO mentor and interviewer were assigned. It is most efficient and less likely that a certificate will be lost if sent directly to the appointee. The ALO will then ask the appointee to bring the certificate to the high school award ceremony for presentation.
2. The appointment certificate is not the BFE. The BFE is still electronic as it has been for several years. Appointees must still go through their portal to accept their appointment. Once they accept, the electronic BFE will appear. Get all the BFE items done ASAP as this may delay or prevent you from inprocessing.

The electronic "BFE" is in the form of a long checklist (about 27 items) on the portal, similar to the checklist you worked on when you were putting together your application. The first item on the checklist is to download, print, and read the Appointee Booklet. Remaining items are forms and questionnaires to complete, including optometry (if needed) and immunization information.
