Which prep? How far is it for you? Which service? USCGA is notorious for keeping them waiting to the last minute. Our son, and most of his prep class, got his a couple weeks before graduation. Some self preps got them mid-year. A few appointments weren't given until something like the day before.

Was your son not given a timely answer and then given his appt right before graduation or was he waitlisted or told no? Just checking because self preppers at MMI did not fair well this year.

Self prep seems like a gamble but I can't imagine the frustration and disorientated feeling that must follow not receiving an appt after prep year.
I know of a few self preppers who did quite well and have appointments, friends of DS at MMI. A couple of them even received appointments back in January.Which prep? How far is it for you? Your DS is at USAFA Prep? Did he say what were the circumstances of those who where told they would not get an appointment? Was it grades or fitness? Or is it luck of the draw?Which prep? Air force prep we would have to fly out.
DS has LOA so I am guessing he will get appointment but My job as parent is to worry.

Thanks. You're right as a parent it's our job to worry. Since my DS is going to USAFA Prep this summer--it worries me when I hear about preppies not getting appointments to USAFA. If its for grades, fitness, or discipline problems--or even if the preppy just decides not to accept appointment, that's understandable. Good Luck to your DS. Let us know when he gets the good news!Your DS is at USAFA Prep? Did he say what were the circumstances of those who where told they would not get an appointment? Was it grades or fitness? Yes DS is at USAFA Prep, not to be confused with the private preps. I believe the private preps are still in the pool with everyone else that is applying that year. It was described to me that USAFA preps are pretty much guaranteed a spot at the academy as long as they keep good grades and maintain military standards of the prep school. Still as parent we worry about them getting appointment.
DS said mostly for grades, some where for fitness. HE did not say anyone was offered an appointment yet. He said some had fitness waivered due to injuries, but they are athletes and are deemed fit because of LOA.
If you are sponsored by the SA, your appointment rate is >95%. If you are a Foundation Scholar, which prep school you choose is not not as much of a consideration for the appointment as completing the prep school year to the best of your ability.Does anyone know of those at NMMI and Greystone, how many received appointments to USNA to Class of 2022?
