A year ago I was on this app daily, multiple times a day trying to learn as much as I could about what was going on with the USMA admissions process - when I learned about USMAPS - the Prep School for the USMA. Several of the Senior Moderators reported that this was a “Golden Ticket” for admission to USMA and an opportunity to attend was encouraged if offered.

As you may have guessed, our DS did not get accepted to USMA but has spent the last 8 months at USMAPS where he has gone from a 17 year old kid to a much more confident 18 year old Cadet Candidate. While not always the most fun experience, he has met lifelong friends, maxes his PT test, and is much, much better prepared to start at USMA this July.

If offered, take this opportunity for your DS or DD to grow and mature - neither you nor your child will regret it.

I concur wholeheartedly! Don’t get your feelings hurt if you don’t get a direct admit to USMA. Get over it. Accept the slot. You will not regret it.

My DS will be going to USMAPS. He needs the year to prepare and it could not have worked out better for him.
