Hey, I got into contact with my MOC and they had said that an appointment had been given out in my district. This is more than likely the top candidate of the slate from my understanding. I come from a competitive state (CA) and slots are quite limited it seems. Is there any hope of appointment? Is there only one from each district that gets appointed? I have yet to receive the TWE.

It's quite simple, no TWE means you are still in the game. Therefore there is always hope. Keep the faith.

We are in CA too. 3Qued since 2/14. Still in the game...

My DS did not win his slate, but came in off of the NWL last year. Hang in there!
I haven’t been contacted by my MOC regarding the slate being won. I have an LOA and am medically qualified, I haven’t received a TWE. I also haven’t been contacted regarding being 3Q or the NWL. Is this a bad sign?

Check your candidate portal as there is a message function, sometimes letters are posted there

Might sound like a stupid question, but did you complete your application?

Unless you are a recruited athlete, thr primary driver for LOA is academics, so you should be academically qualified if you are not a recruited athlete. So if you passed the CFA you should get an appointment.

Another stupid question, does your candidate portal show your medical qualification? You might have gotten DODMERB exam for a different commissioning source, but depends on when you finished your application they might not have requested the result in time.

It is ultimately a big puzzle... Matching bodies with slots. I think if you have an LOA it is just a matter of being patient. Positive thoughts for all those waiting!

Also, probably a dumb question since you are mentioning your MOC, but you have a nomination, as well? Given you are both DoDMERB qualified and have a nomination, you can count on the promises made in the LOA.

It was an academically driven LOA. I got DoDMERB qualified in early February. On the DoDMERB website it has two seperate qualified status messages, one for West Point and one for the Coast Guard Academy. On my West Point portal "overview" page it has qualified at the bottom. My application was 100% completed and got confirmation of this from my RC. As for the nomination- I received a congressional nomination back in November. I believe I got a pass on my CFA:
52 inch B-Ball Throw, 10 pull-ups, 8.2 shuttle run, 100 situps, 56 pushups, and a 5:18 mile

There is nothing on my portal that showed up and I haven't received anything in the mail. I contacted my RC a few weeks ago regarding my status and all he said was:
"Your file is still going through checks, most districts haven't yet been resolved."

As we are approaching the end of the cycle I am getting nervous about my chances.

I thought the same thing for the Coast Guard Academy but ended up getting rejected. I received an LOA, was medically qualified, got close to the max score on the fitness test, and didn't get either a direct appointment or a spot at a prep school.
