April: and you are still waiting...

Hey! I agree DrMom. Some slates haven't even been resolved, including mine so the wait is still on. Good luck!
I agree as well, time is passing slower than usual here in SC. We are not seeing much movement, not sure if it’s good news or not but so far no TWE. We decided to take a week long vacation over spring break to break up the wait, hopefully when we return we will have more information. It’s interesting even with a fantastic plan B , we are still anxious about the decision. That being said, our son is cool as s cucumber patiently waiting. I guess we did something right
Parent3,
Just wondering what district are you with? Thanks.

Thank you very much DrMom. Your words were needed. Gotta just breathe and since I am Christian pray, lots and lots of praying for God's will to be done.

@Litoman I was going to refresh this early next week. The next two weeks can be a challenge for everyone out there who is still praying.
It is not good news or bad news, it is just no news--which means you are still in the running.
Praying with you.

Thanks for the encouragement, another Tuesday has passed and we keep checking for updates, at least no TWE. Graduation is 30 days away and the DD has been super busy with school. Just really hoping we know something soon, it is such a struggle for her to not have a concrete plan. We are just trying to keep positive and enjoy what little time she has left at home. Prayers to all that are still waiting.

We are super excited too, my brother in law has his retirement ceremony the day before her graduation!

Really @Proudteachermom My guy was notified on 24 April. Please hang in there. Sometimes it is harder on the parents because cannot really say anything to the kids. Put your frustrated waiting into gardening or walking or working out. :usa:

@DrMom I cannot tell you how helpful your encouragement and constant positive feedback has been in all of the posts and threads I have followed. As we near the end of the appointment process, your words of encouragement have been a light for me as a parent to follow. So to you I say Thank You for being that light at the end of our long tunnel!

@kinnem You are so bad! As your public health adviser, the only drinking I can promote is 'water.' (And preferably from a reusable container.) Such a burden...Save the champagne corks for the good news to come.

@NPmom You are so kind. I am sorry that you all are having to wait so long. One of my West Point Mom friends from the first go-round (#1 Son) who stalks this page knows that I pretty much lost it in the middle of April last year, although the boy (#3 Son) was always cool and happy with the plan he had made for himself.) Truly, as a mom, there is nothing to do but wait and enjoy these milestone final events with your son or daughter. Sometimes on social media, people use the anonymity to be a little more curt than they would be if we were sitting across the table from one another sharing a cup of coffee. We should all strive to be that 'meet for a cup of coffee' acquaintance--our children may know each other and serve the Nation together soon. Best wishes with the next couple of weeks. If you lose faith and feel a little too uptight--feel free to PM. I don't have any great words or advice--but am happy to keep you occupied.

Regional commander gave me a call yesterday. Notified me that the medical waiver requested on my behalf had been rejected...

@C76706340 I know you are disappointed. It has been a long slog. You have prepared valiantly and comported yourself with dignity.
VMI + Army ROTC is not a back up plan. It is a wonderful plan and you will get a great education and emerge a fantastic officer. The PMS there is top notch and the program wins the best ROTC unit in the country award almost every year. I remember reading something about needing to show up ready to do 100 push ups...so you might have a little time between now and then to prepare.

@C76706340 I have been waiting on final word on my medical waiver status. The deadline is just a couple days away... RC told me back in early March that the Surgeon determined I would not be eligible for a waiver. However, I went through three additional medical appointments to have previous conditions cleared, and now I wait with fingers crossed. I cannot say that I know how you feel, but back in March I thought it was all over. It seems, though, that you have a solid Plan B, and based on some of the posts I have seen you make on here, you have the determined character that people look up to in a great leader~

Oh, and about push-ups...

I'm literally addicted to them. I get "angry" if I don't do at least 200-300 a day :)

Anyone have any advice on what to do right now besides wait? Any emails I can send to reinforce interest, any email to say id be happy to take AOG, anything at all? Thanks.

Good Morning @ontothefray22 . You are spot on. There is not much to do but wait. You could try calling your Regional Commander or Diversity Officer, if appropriate---but they won't be able to make magic happen on the phone.
Stay upbeat, stay busy, enjoy your last few weeks of high school and prom and all of that. What is your next favorite great option? Let's talk about how awesome it is--so that you are really having to think when and if your appointment arrives. Also, did you accept your Army ROTC scholarship and make your deposit at that school? You probably have until 1 May to commit to your other great school.
These last two weeks can be very long. You must try not to lose faith in yourself and in the process. If you were finished, you would have received a TWE or portal update. You haven't. No news. Still in the running.
Happy to correspond on this any time.

One field rep just messaged me and said my file is very close. What does that mean? She also said that I should get someone to speak on my behalf...what should I do with that?

For the candidates that are having DODMERB issues, were these medical issues known to the candidates previously or were these issues newly identified in the DODMERB physical? I am curious if the DODMERB physical is much more intensive than a normal physical / check-up which is resulting in so many candidates having problems and needing waivers. Thank you.
