So I’ve read about the cases where waivers take months, sometimes a year. How common is this? My son is waiting for decisions on 2 waivers for AROTC. The timeline says 4-6 weeks, are most during this time, and we only hear about the lengthier ones? 6 weeks takes us to 4/24, just in time for May 1st decisions. Crossing my fingers!!!

Every case is different. There is no way to forecast the length of time you might be waiting. Hopefully you'll hear before April 24, which is plenty of time to lock in plan B.g

Thank you! Good to hear of a case that was in the timeframe they gave. I know there’s no telling, but was only reading about ones that take forever so just wanted to know it’s possible lol!

My daughter was DQ'd on April 7th and it took until June 10th for us to be notified that it was overturned. FWIW, the staff at the school she was going to attend told us they were 95% sure she was going to be cleared so it was a "little" less stressful. In the meantime, we paid deposits at (3) schools. Yeah we lost a few hundred bucks but received a total scholarship package worth almost $180K so it was worth the gamble.

Can I ask what she was dq'ed for? I currently have a DQ for my hearing. Would you advise that I contact my PMS and find out the likelihood of obtaining a waiver? Also, are PMSs able to put more pressure on headquarters to overturn DQs for cadets on scholarship?

A one time ulcerative colitis diagnosis. We had to go back, have a secondary blood test done to show it was a mis-diagnosis and then had the doctor write a letter explaining the situation. I would imagine with hearing that there is a "baseline" that must be met but without knowing (or needing to know) your exact issue, I don't know what might help for you.

If memory serves DS DQ for food allergies took 90 days to process. Be proactive and start gathering supporting material to help DoDMERB and the waiver authority. If civilian doctors need to be involved get an appointment now and forward the information to CC.
