USMMA Indoc day prep

Regard to 'Buy everything from the nex supply list so it is delivered and you don't have to carry it all around', what kind of supply you are thinking of? what does 'delivered' mean?
I will be arriving couple days before Indoc so I will have a chance to follow your advices.

Thanks in advance.

When you receive the link to the 2022 Logging-In Book along with all the forms, etc. you will see the: Personal Items Kit - Laptop - Printer - Accessories - Order Form. You will have the option to order almost everything (and quite possibly EVERYTHING if you're not picky about brands of items) from NEX. I recommend purchasing the laptop and printer package, Personal Items Kit Gear (Male or Female accordingly) at a minimum. We ordered most everything except for running shoes (he had personal favorites), personal hygiene items and undergarments so that son had a very manageable duffle bag to bring to Indoc. We also ordered additional PT shirts and shorts per the recommendation of other KP parents.

When the plebe candidate arrives at KP, their gear will be waiting for them (fingers crossed) and they will pick it all up in a regulation storage bin (Rubbermaid type) and be good to go. I know that some orders are lost or not filled correctly, but it all evens up and they figure it all out. Keep your emails and copies of forms and make sure your Plebe Candidate has along with all other items at Indoc so they can check to make sure what was ordered.

If you're a parent, join the social media USMMA 2022 Parent page and PC should join their respective page. The National Parents Association can be found through the USMMA web site as well.

Hope that helps!

Not to scare anyone, but these are a couple of my favorite shots from Indoc day zero. I can't take credit for them though. They were probably snapped by KP Photography.

I think that the photo on the right is a brother yelling at his sister in a family style KP Indoc welcome!

Yep, that's her brother. She also has a twin sister in our class and both parents are alums, met at KP. Very KP family.

Easier found then I thought. Lets see if it uploads.
This was correct in 2016. Maybe someone can indicate if it stayed the same in 2017
2017 (class of 2021) has 6 companies, 1-5 plus band. Plebe Candidates have their company number (B for Band Co.) written in marker on the back of their hands. You can try to ID their company by that reference as well.

Besides Band Co, is there a method to the way companies are assigned?

There is a FB page for the Plebe Candidates too?

I could not recommend more highly to buy enough of everything from the NEX to get through indoc. I brought the absolute minimum, pretty much just socks, underwear, t-shirts, shorts and the clothes on my back. I managed a single gym bag and it made my life on arrival day light years easier. Virtually everything else is going right into a baggage locker anyway and you won't see it for a while so bring the minimum and have mom and dad send a package once indoc is over once you figure out what you really need.

As I've said before related to going out for sea year ... lay out everything you need, then put half of it back and you will still have too much.

It looks like they try to arrive at a balance with females spread out for room assignment purposes, but otherwise it seems random.

i have heard SA horror stories. example... USCGA.. cadre found out plebe had a copy... made entire squadron carry 2 copies and hold both out each time

Does anyone know the name of the book the plebes have to memorize and read from during indoc?
Be low profile. Attracting any attention during indoc is worth neither the effort nor the grief.

I'll take Mystery Plebe over Honor Plebe any day.

Our DS (2021) completed Indoc last year. Said there's an unwritten "curse" of being selected Honor Plebe. Don't know the details, and he didn't elaborate.
Memorize the Plebe book with the rest of the cadre. Remember, you're all in this together.....

Having been a Navy Sea Cadet for 8 years (CPO for 2) my DS (2021) came in with a huge advantage re: most everything from all the trainings he'd been to over the years. He pretended like he knew nothing and purposely "flew under the radar" all of Indoc. Find the sweet spot somewhere in the middle where they hardly know you are there. Welcome Aboard!!

It was tough for me with my last name. . .was chosen first for everything. . . I also took time to adjust, and piled up demerits pretty quickly early on. . . until about a couple of weeks after Indoc. I figured it out and flew by with only 4 demerits the rest of my time there. Not like I was an angel, either. I was over the wall as much as anyone, just figured out ways to get away with it. . .

I’ve been a JROTC cadet for 4 years, so I already know the basics of drill, but would it be better to act clueless so I don’t get singled out?

IMHO, no - don't act clueless. You don't want to call attention to yourself, but it is okay for the cadre to know you are a capable plebe.
