On the USAFA website it states verbatim "Those Pre-Candidates who will be granted candidate status will receive an email and Candidate Kit Instructions online." I am wondering what this means realistically. If I complete my PCQ, and get the email informing me that it was received, how long should it take for me to find out if I was granted candidate status or not? Or is there such an E-Mail at all? I cant seem to find information on this anywhere, and it would be nice to know.
Thanks for any responses!

At least in past years, the earliest portal update to candidate status is July 1st and it's on a rolling basis. I.e. those who did their PCQ on March 1st have their application open July 1st, those who did it the 2nd, July 2nd, etc.

I submitted my PCQ early/ mid March, and my portal was updated around March 27 saying that my application is “competitive” and that additional instructions would be sent in July.

For me I was a little concerned when I submitted mine because of my ACT/SAT scores but from what I was told if your status comes back saying you are not competitive you can still keep updating that until it changes. I believe the window closes around the beginning of July.

There is usually another letter saying that you will get another more in-depth package (candidate kit) in July if you submitted in early March. Now how long it takes to get that letter I'm not sure. I wish u the best!
