Hello Everyone! I am an applicant for the class of 2023 and am seeking some information regarding SOEs.

I understand that three of the SOEs are academic (lab science, English and Mathematics) and that the fourth SOE is physical (PE Teacher). Can a PE teacher from a previous year provide the SOE? My school excuses upperclassmen in varsity sports from PE, so I have had minimal contact with my current teacher. I know that academic SOEs can come from a teacher from any year but I also know physical fitness is more vulnerable to change than academic aptitude.

According to the thread "PE Teacher Eval", home schooled candidates and candidates who never took PE in high school can ask their CFA administrator to complete the PE teacher SOE. I'm not home schooled and have taken PE so I don't exactly qualify for such criteria but believe I am also in a "grayish" area. Do you think I would be able to ask my sophomore year PE teacher (also planning to have him administer my CFA) to complete the SOE?

I am planning to reach out to my FFR to ask his opinion, but thought I would try here first. Thank you for your time and help!

Do you have a PE teacher this year? Not really sure exactly what you are saying when you said you are excused from PE bc of varsity sports, but you have minimal contact with your current teacher.

It must be your current PE teacher. If you are not currently taking PE, then you must have your most recent PE teacher listed on your high school transcript complete the SOE.

I had a similar problem when applying. At my high school, everyone takes P.E. their freshman year to get it out of the way. Unfortunately, my P.E. teacher decided to leave after my freshman year. Hence, I had to go and hunt him down to do the SOE. Moral of the story: Do what the guy above said to do. Go back to your most recent P.E. teacher and have him/her do the evaluation even if it means pulling teeth to get that person's email address...

Sir, my apologies for any confusion. Essentially, I am excused from PE while I am in season. I attend PE for around a week until my fall sport officially starts. I then return to PE after my fall season ends but leave after only two weeks for my winter/spring sport, which excuses me up until school ends.

Thank you for your help! I appreciate the clarification. I will ask my current teacher to write the SOE and qualify it by perhaps taking a fitness test with him or otherwise proving my competence. Again, thank you!

Thank you Sir! I appreciate the advice! It sounds like you made it work with a much trickier situation. I will plan on asking my current PE teacher for the SOE. Again, many thanks!
