In the selection booklet for the NROTC scholarship, it says that the minimum fitness requirement is a Good Low for the 20-24 age group, but I would think that most college freshmen would fall in the 17-19 age group. Does anyone know which age standard (17-19 or 20-24) that the NROTC units use, particularly for scholarship activation? (I know I should aim to be above the minimum for either standard, I just wanted to know which is actually used)

Meeting the minimum requirement allows you to contract and have any scholarship kick in.

The standard used is totally based on the age of the person. So NROTC uses both depending on the age of the person. If you meet the minimum standards you are usually required to participate in extra PT until your scores come up. Many units will excuse you from 1 PT session if you achieve an excellent score (285+). Being fit pays off. BTW, you don't mention which option: Navy or Marine, but this applies equally to both.

This is for Navy Option. I plan to prepare physically to where I can exceed the 17-19 standard.

Max Max relax- no valid excuse for not maxing push and sit, its all repetition. Do enough of them and you can easily Max both. Obviously don't actually relax on the run, still try your best but you shouldn't expect to Max that as I think the max is 8 minutes. Again to do well on the run you need to run, and more than the 1.5 miles. Run long and often to improve speed.
