I`m new here but do any of you guys have any experience with the "Hold" process and how long it goes on? I got put on hold back in mid January and it hasn't changed. I accepted my appointment to USAFA since if I waited past May 1st I would have lost the appointment so I have been filling the required stuff out in case USMMA says no. It says on the USMMA site that most appointments are made from late march to mid April but some do go beyond that. I talked with my USMMA Liaison officer and he said to just accept the USAFA appointment so that I don`t lose it and that I can switch it out later for USMMA but I`m not sure how long this is gonna go on. I`m a bit confused since I thought that I would have no chance of getting into USAFA especially since there were no real standout features about me besides Boy`s State. The liaison officer said that he gave me a 70-80 percent chance of getting in to USMMA but that was weeks ago. For Merchant Marine I am a recruited swimmer, finished all my stuff as soon as humanly possible since it is my #1 school, I have my ACAD certification, Boy`s State, above average SAT and GPA, and a nomination from a congressman and one of my senators and some other things going for me. Personally I`m just a but confused that USAFA gave me an appointment all the way back in mid February when I had noting really going for me and finished my application for that last minute but USSMA has kept me on hold for nearly 4 months. What`s your guys take on this? I`m worried that it will carry into June where all the stuff for USAFA must be completed and its kind of the point of no return.
