Grad Rate

Can't speak to Citadel.

Service Academies seem to be now around 20% attrition rate over 4 years. (When I went through USAFA it was about 37%)

VMI is around 30% attrition over 4 years. For instance, Class of 2019 entered with 495, and currently has around 355 still enrolled.

The graduation rate for The Citadel you quoted is about right ~ 69% in four years. The most important rate though is freshmen retention - as dropping out or changing colleges significantly reduces your probability of finishing your undergraduate degree. The Citadel freshmen retention rate has been fairly consistent at 80% of the entering class. Also note - when reviewing data on colleges realize most colleges will give their grad rate in 6 years, not 4 as The Citadel and I believe VMI do. So be careful of statistics. See info on The Citadel at: http://www.citadel.edu/root/images/ir/student_achievement.pdf

and if 69% sounds low - the national average is 30%, in South Carolina its as low as 14%. Most colleges now assume the average student will take at least 5 years to graduate and scholarship athletes typically stay 5 years.
