Who is Still on Hold for 2022?

Joy at last here in Texas. DS got his BFE... I have my fingers crossed for Lbug and BurntENDZ, I am hoping to be able to buy you both drinks next month!
did you know before the BFE?

Thank you, would really like that drink about now.......Did you know before that BFE? Do they update the portal first or how do kids find out? Very Happy for you!!

Last year, I was on hold and got accepted. I am currently at Mid at the academy right now. I had a 3.0 GPA in high school one AP class. 3.15 college GPA. And, my ACT scores were 25 in English, 27 in math, 24 in reading and 23 in Science. Just stay confident and keep in contact with admissions they love that.

Thank you for posting, DS has slightly better scores than you. How difficult were the academics for you at KP?

No, DS was asked via email this week (Wednesday) if he was still interested and would he accept if offered.

Then the BFE was waiting for him when we got home today.

Reminds me of what happened to me way back in the days before email. . . I was a very early alternate appointee (same as "On Hold" without the immediacy). . .Then I get another letter in the mail asking if I wanted to attend an orientation (at the time, reserved for appointees), confusing me a bit. . .until the next day when I got my orders. . .

BurntENDZ are you still holding? DS and family here wanting it to happen soon if it happens at all. Champing at the bit. The window to prepare is closing---flight tickets, the TWIC card.....just the peace of mind. I'm none to proud to ask all who are reading this to please keep us in your prayers .

yes @Lbug still HOLD. It's a very challenging position to be in. We feel your pain. DS is numb with it. Graduation activities this week and graduation Friday make it better and worse - takes everyone's mind off the HOLD, but quickly reminded as soon as someone asks what are the plans for school.

@Lbug @texasimport sure wish we could figure out the mojo - DS is 3.93 gpa, 1340 sat, 4 yr wrestler, swam this year, 4 year band sax (alto, tenor, bari) player, honor band, spirit, jazz, musical, concert. what's it sound like it's taking to get apt at usmma?

Regarding your TWIC card, late appointees last year were taken into NYC to get theirs. So cross that one off your worry list. My DD is friends with an appointee from 2021 who received word of his appointment TWO days before INDOC started. By now, all is forgotten, and he is just like everyone else, worrying about finals and getting ready for first sea year.

I am still praying for those waiting and I am optimistic that admissions would not have left you on hold for this long if they were not working to find a spot for you. Hang tough!!

we did TWIC last fall bc he would need it for where ever he wound up

went into philly and it was mailed within the week of processing

@BurntENDZ, I wish your DS the best of luck and will continue prayers for him. Unfortunately DS just checked the portal and "Qualified not Selected" was there. Not sure what it was, He had a lower GPA than your son but higher SAT and AP courses completed in Calc, Phys, Comp Sci, along with a bit more. Swam varsity 4 years and tennis 2. Oh well, Doesn't matter now, Luckily He is already accepted to another State University and will go forward for an engineering path that way. We all just really liked USMMA, from the location to the size, thought it would be such a great fit. For whatever reason, God has a different plan for him and we will trust in him. I hope all the young men that do get there, appreciate it and make the best of that great opportunity. Best to every out there.

LBug--sorry to lose you from USMMA. I wish your family all the best in your new plan A. We don't always understand God's plans for us, but I pray your DS will grow where he is planted and that his future is all he wants it to be.

The academics are hard at USMMA. Many students who got all A’s in high school will struggle to even pass a class. I am a 2.9 student. So, I do decently in my classes. However, there have been a couple classes I have really struggled in. You will find that classes that you would think would be easy end up being way harder than expected. Honestly, a lot of it is just swallowing your pride and admitting you need help. Many people at USMMA never really struggled in high school so they don’t know how to ask for help. Luckily, for me I learned how to ask for help very early on.

@Lbug Thank you for you kind words. We are sorry USMMA did not work out for your DS. He has accomplished a lot, please share that we are proud of him.

I had been on HOLD for about 2 months. Finally, on graduation day, I received a phone call from Commander Bedryk of USMMA and the office of my congressional nominator to let me know that my waiver had been processed and accepted and that I would be receiving my LOA. I was medically unqualified for the longest time and still managed to get an LOA 3 days ago. Theres still hope!

Will your DS be reapplying?
Looking at his stats and comparing it to mine, it is a shame that they did not select him. Granted my GPA is a 4.8, my SAT scores are far below sitting at 1300 superscored. Completed Calc, Trig, Chem Honors, but no physics. Band for 4 years as well, but no varsity sports.
