Does West Point count your High School Freshmen GPA in your total High School GPA?

Why wouldn’t they? Isn’t your GPA cumulative average?

Of course they count it. That's the definition of "high school GPA" as you state it. If it was bad freshman year but you show continued progress over time then that will be to your credit. In any case, there is nothing you can do about it now, so quit worrying. Worry about the things you can control.

HS GPA = 9th thru 12th Grades (some schools still put 9th as Jr. High, but it counts).

They look at the first six (6) semesters of High School (which is Freshman - Junior year) for the initial application.
With a few applicants, they will request first semester Senior year grades.
If that happens, candidates will be asked to have their school forward those grades.

From what my DS tells me, they do not request a final transcript (including senior year grades).

Yes, the SA's count your cumulative GPA from freshman year, but there are other schools out there that do other things like the University of California system...just an FYI:

Yea, I was not sure if the SAs specifically West Point took a different approach to factoring in high school GPAs. I have seen some colleges that only take your GPA from your Sophomore and up..

West point requires transcript for all 8 semesters of high school. My daughter is still chasing her counselor for her final semester.

There you go. I was speaking "USNA" in a "USMA" forum.
Sorry about that !

I have a feeling that USNA requests the final transcript as well, but it happens in the background without any input from the Appointee.

DS received a letter and envelope to give to HS counselor in which they were to submit his 8th semester transcript.

You are completely right, my DS had his counselor sent in his 8th semester transcript to WP last year.
