In the PTR, it says that I will not receive my company/mailing address until I-Day. However, I have heard in years past that people receive this information before I-Day. Which is true, and if the information does come before I-Day, should it be expected soon, or mere days before I-Day?

Thank you all for the help in advance.

I have heard in years past......

What might have been done in the past, might not be the same thing done this year. The PTR is the official communication from USNA of what they are currently planning to do this year.

Last year we received the following email.

The Parents or Guardians of:

Your Plebe's Name

Dear Parents or Guardians of a Member of the Class of 2022:

Congratulations on your midshipman’s acceptance to become part of the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Class of 2022. As we approach Induction Day (I-Day) on 28 June, I want to inform you of your midshipman’s contact information and how to stay informed of updated information regarding I-Day and Plebe Summer.

Your midshipman has been assigned to X Company, xx Platoon. This information will assist you in identifying the location of your midshipman during Plebe Summer should the need arise. Beginning 1 July, your midshipman may receive mail at the following address:

MIDN John Smith

X Company xx Platoon

Annapolis, MD 21412

Towards the end of plebe summer, everyone will be assigned a permanent Post Office Box. Once the midshipmen receive their P.O. Box assignments, the Company and Platoon will no longer be a necessary part of your midshipman’s address. As a reminder, your midshipman will not have e-mail access until a few days after Parents’ Weekend.

You will not be left in the dark. If you have the extra means, send a care package to "Any Plebe". One of the best introductions we had was a foreign student plebe. Mail from 0utside the country can take months.

That's what I was thinking too, but apparently in years past they said the same thing in the PTR, yet received mailing address before I-Day. That's why I was confused.

Good to know. I used to send things for plebes in need of a package to a friend stationed at USNA, but they've been transferred so that's no longer an option. Does it need to have a company specified, or just 'Any Plebe' and the address?

You can always send letters/packages to the chaplains office. Address is on USNA site. Thank you for thinking of those kids who might need a little extra support!

Yes, the Chaplain's office is where we sent the packages. They know who isn't getting mail and distribute them.

Thanks, will send things along to the chaplains. I've one kid in the Navy and another that went through an SMC so I can't imagine doing something like Plebe Summer without any outside encouragement. I guess this is my way of paying it forward for the folks that helped my kids. And if there are any soon-to-be plebes reading this that want a friendly word from a supportive forum parent during PS just send me a pm.

Thanks to all for bringing up Any Plebe care packages. So, have incoming plebes in the past received a mailing address before I-Day?
