SLE— Dirty?

Thanks! I hear very little from her. A text or two in the evenings so I’m not sure where she’s been! She said that after her first day, her Sergeant took them on a tour and showed them the beautiful areas of campus and shared some insight about how he feels about being there. She had a change of heart at that point. One of her sister’s best friends from high school has been at Buckner this week and we were hoping she’d be able to come back and touch base with her—not sure yet if she will be back in time, however.

I haven’t gotten much info from DS this week while at SLE :( Just a couple of texts. I am hoping that no news is good news and he’s enjoying his time there?! I haven’t seen really any pics posted anywhere either. In the dark over here!

Today they had several briefings and had the opportunity to meet with sports coaches. They have had classes that they chose prior to SLE the past few days. Tomorrow is military day. My DD said they play cards before bed each night.

If anyone would like a tour of inside Davis, I’m living there right now, too! Im free after 1300 every day so if they have some downtime I can help with anything.

My DD is currently at SLE and has texted that the facilities are pretty dirty?? Is this normal? Her roommates are of the same opinion—“gross” was actually the word they used. One of the girls was at USNA and said it was much cleaner and AFA is spotless.

USNA was very clean and a beautiful campus all around. I rejected my SLE spot so can’t speak on West Point but USNA was great.

Finally heard from DD at SLE2 and asked about the cleanliness and she said "We are in the old dorms, what should I expect?" She also said she never thought about it looking older/dirty until I brought it up. So, in short, a little dirt dosent't appear to bother most. :)

Most all colleges have some run down dorms. Nothing out of the usual here.

Sometimes after the kids make the college tour circuit , they have seen the best shiny dorms in the country. These same schools don't show you where 80% of the students live. All about expectation!

Our son is still at Buckner. "Wipes" are the only shower he's had in the last ten days. Better than leaves. He'd kill for a cold shower or the luxury of Brad or Lee. Pretty sure I could smell him over the phone.

My son heads back Sunday for AA and CFT2. I can only imagine the aroma upon pick up the end of July.

There are construction projects and crews all over the place at West Point. Upgrades are underway...past due, for sure.

My son had zero opinion on the cleanliness of the room he stayed in during his overnight. He did mention he liked sleeping on a cot at West Point better than sleeping in a hammock at USNA. I thought it was funny.

I just love these kids interested in serving our Nation.

Oh, what about the YouTube video of the cadets releasing Mr. Whiskers, their pet mouse...Let me see if I can find the link:
Enjoy.
Oh, baby wipes and monkey butt powder...and FOX RIVER SOCKS!
