As a reminder to all, we encourage the free exchange of information and ideas on the forum. If you disagree with what an individual has posted, you may explain what is incorrect about it. However, personal attacks will not be tolerated.

One of the great things about this forum is that our members bring a wide array of backgrounds and experiences, as no one individual has all of the answers. And it's important to recognize, as has been mentioned before, that even first-hand information from cadets and midshipmen can quickly become dated. This is especially true once one becomes an alumnus. As a result, we encourage everyone to join the forum and help one another.

In my short time here and on similar boards some of the best advice I've seen is from moms. I talked to my son last night about 40 or so minutes and he gave me a run down on current and future ops, unclassified of course, and issues he was having keeping up gear and whatnot with not enough money. He's in charge of almost 200 Marines and 100 million dollars of equipment and vehicles and lots of stuff that goes boom. Typical Marine Corps problems. Make do with less. Even though he had already spoken to my wife, as we were signing off, he said he needed to speak with her again to help figure something out. Uh, OK buddy, here's mom.

Back to the original question, the Logging In manual for the class of 2022 clearly states as far as what to bring in the way of electronics

"Electronic Calculators: A graphics calculator (e.g. TI-30x IIS) is recommended, but optional. This may be purchased before entrance to the Academy or can be purchased at the Academy’s Navy Exchange (NEX).

Cell Phones: Cell phones may be brought but, due to the Indoctrination training program, will not be authorized to remain on person and will be collected and stowed for safekeeping.

ALL OTHER ELECTRONICS (SPEAKERS, RADIOS/STEREOS, IPODS, PORTABLE GAMING DEVICES, ETC.) ARE NOT AUTHORIZED. All items are subject to inspection and any items brought not listed may be confiscated for the duration of the Indoctrination program."
