Permit to Report time

I’m supposed to report at 8:30 am to the Academy. If I’m planning on taking the bus from the football stadium, what time should I get there? What will parking be like? Thanks.

Parking at Stadium - easy. Ten minute ride from Stadium to Alumni Hall area. Regardless of your check-in time, if you stand too close to the Alumni Hall doors you will be sucked in. They can pick you out a mile away. The check-in times are just to generally stagger the class out and keep the intake rate balanced. Some will have started much earlier.

As Capt MJ said, parking at the stadium is easy. Parking lot is right next to the buses and they run regularly. You and whoever is with you will have to go through security before boarding the bus and there could be a bit of a line there, but no big deal. Once the bus drops you off at the Yard you could end up in a long line waiting to get to Alumni Hall. Don't sweat it if you are still in line when your report time hits. I forget DD's report time on her I-Day, but we ended up in a long line that took quite a while. We and DD were a little worried about her getting in trouble for being late for her report time due to the wait. One of the chaplains was cruising up and down the line greeting people and he assured us that she was fine. He also offered to take a photo of us in front of Alumni Hall. They know the level of nervousness of Plebes-to-be (and parents) and know exactly what to say.

Our parent club said to get to the stadium parking at least 1 hour before reporting time...don't know if that is accurate, but that's what we are shooting for.

1 hour before seems reasonable.

An alternative - we parked at the municipal parking structure on Gorman Street off Main Street in downtown Annapolis. It's an easy walk to the Yard (5 minutes). It is a pay structure, but we were able to go back and forth very easily to leave things in or get things from the car.

You might as well learn the meaning of "Hurry up and wait.." early. It's a pretty efficient machine, but if something gets gunked up, back ups happen. Remember..SEMPER GUMBY ! (Always Flexible)
