Slightly concerned about my height being a big problem for me at the academy. I do make the height requirement at 60 inches, but I am worried about the disadvantages I will be facing. I have done 2 years of xc and track and I have done a lot of weightlifting. I would consider myself physically fit but I'm very self conscious about my height.

Your height may restrict you from some post graduation opportunities for certain pilot slots, but at the Academy there shouldn’t be an issue. I know a 2 deg (junior) who is barely above the minimum height and she has excelled. She also ran track and XC in high school. Currently she is on the Sup’s list and will be the highest ranked junior in her squadron in the fall. She is in extremely good shape and has a fantastic attitude. If you want to succeed as a cadet, who will need to have the internal drive to be there. Good luck.

Yah don’t give into complex. Be yourself and don’t be self conscious about your height. Don’t go that path.

Napoleon was a small dude but he ruled Europe as an Emperor. Emperor Meiji and his grand son Hirohito were small dudes yet they conquered Asia with a small Island country. Genghis Khan was a small dude yet he conquered Asia and Eastern Europe.

Attitude matters. And yes your small frame can limit your assignment in Aviation. But being small can make fine Astronauts, perhaps non Pilot role and other non Aviation careers ^^.

64" is the standing height required to be a pilot. I've seen it waived down to 62". There is also a sitting height requirement to fly. Short squat individuals that meet the height requirements tend to be able to pull more Gs than tall lanky folks.
