Applicants For The Class of 2023

Hey Everyone,

Know I'm joining the thread a little late but I'm Nick and I'm from Texas. Looking forward to working with and getting to know you as we all work through the process. I think it's a great idea to network and get started talking now as we move through the process.

SLE Session 1.

Hope to Meet Ya'll soon!

Does anybody else have the box that says Intial Evaluation Pending on their portal? What does this entail? Mine says that the evaluation will not begin until August first. Also do we need to submit anything besides the candidate questionnaire for this intial step? Thanks guys and I hope to get to know some of you. I’m from CT-5.

I believe everyone has the box that says that on their portals. As of right now there's nothing else we can do besides the candidate questionnaire and apply for nominations. Eagerly awaiting August 1st.

I'm from CT-2, have you heard anything besides confirmation of submission via email from Sen. Blumenthal or Murphy regarding scheduling of interviews, etc? My congressman's representative called me and gave me a timeframe when my application got there, but radio silence from the senate offices.

Ok thank you glad it is not just me! So the only thing you have sent to West Point so far is the Candidate Questtionare? I have not heard anything from Murphy, Blumenthal, or Congresswomen Esty as of yet except conformation, but I only just submitted my packets yesterday. I think that they will probably update everyone soon about interviews from what I have gathered about the process. Best of luck on your application.

I’ve also sent in my candidate resume that our candidate technician asks for and my sixth semester transcript. Other than that, nothing else.

It took awhile to hear back from Murphy’s office (Blumenthal was pretty quick) so don’t be worried if you only get confirmation from one for the first few weeks after you mailed your packet.

Nick, I recommend changing your screen name to something less obvious. Unlike your personal social media sites, this is an anonymous Internet forum. The anonymity protects you and allows you to express opinions and ask questions with no bounce back to you personally. The less personally identifying info you put out there, the better, in general.

You can contact a mod or try @TacticalNuke should you wish to change it.

I just submitted my test scores today but I was very confused by that long email they sent. What exactly do they need by August first? Do they need resume, transcript, and scores? My school was having a problem with their system so transcripts are going to be tuff to send, if they don’t have them by August first will they delete my application? I tried calling but the person in charge of the North East is out of the office and that is the same person who’s email the resume goes to. I would really appreciate any information or advice.

Nothing needs to be in by August 1st. That's just when the actual application opens, but it's just nice to have the other stuff turned in and out of the way ahead of time. If you can't submit your transcript digitally, I had my guidance counselor mail mine in which may solve your problem. Official scores, transcripts, and your candidate resume don't have a due date, but our Candidate Technician (the one the email is from) suggested we turn them in sooner than later. Your application is in no danger of being deleted.

The back and forth here between candidates is great. Teamwork and mutual support are critical aspects of academy and military life.

That said, Class of 2023 candidates please note: When it comes to questions about the process and your status, look first to primary sources. That is, the academy’s regional liaison officer and the academy’s website/portal. That should be your first checkpoint, not this forum.

This forum is great for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and offering support. But no one here knows the specific circumstances of your application. So to avoid any grief or confusion, use primary sources first. You won’t regret it.

Wondering if anybody is looking to get recruited to play a sport at one of the Academies? I would like to swim and have talked to the West Point coach. The recruiting rocess is different than at a traditional school, so trying to figure it out.

LOTS of discussion about recruited athletes on threads. You can use the search function and find tons of info. Basically, you have to meet all the same standards of anyone: academics, DODMRB and a nomination.

Hey yall I just got this thread and I'm into the idea of working together. My friends call me JAX I'm from Texas and really hitting the applications hard.

Hello everyone. I was told the other day about this thread and am ready to try and help everyone here go to the academies.

Has anyone heard from DoDMERB yet? Cause I’ve heard advice saying to get that done early.

You will not receive information on your DODMERB until you have completed a reasonable or significant portion of the application. The application has not opened yet.

My DS already completed DoDMERB. He applied to USNA and to USAFA, he thinks that USNA sent his application to the DoDMERB but not sure as they didn’t tell us. Now we are just waiting for the results and for WP to open the application.

The application portal should open for most applicants tomorrow if you are qualified.

Same here. USNA done, USAFA done, Nominations 99% done, DodMerb done. He hopes to knock out USMA pretty quick then the wait begins. Good luck to all!

I wish my DS was as far ahead as yours. Unfortunately, we have been stalled by teacher and guidance counselor evaluations. I don't know why there isn't a Department of Defense scholarship application that would cover all service academies and ROTC programs. I have to chase teachers around in the summer to fill out similar evaluations.
