The evening after the A-Day parade, C4s were "vaping"--our cadet and roommate were invited into the room but did not go. I'm a bit old fashioned and so had to go online to understand what vaping was.

Reading about it, I was surprised that it would go on at USAFA. Is there any policy on it?

DoD treats vaping (or other electronic nicotine delivery systems) as a tobacco product.

Tobacco products cannot be used indoors. They can be used only in outdoor areas specifically designated for tobacco use.

Vaping is touting as non-tobacco and harmless by most people. DoD views vaping as a pollutant (regardless of harmful content) so no use indoors.

There's an exception to every policy though. I do know of at least 2 locations on a military installation where there are indoor rooms that are designated for smoking. Somehow, the union was able to get the government to agree to having those smoking locations indoors. There are probably other indoor locations that are the exception to the DoD policy.

During my DS recruiting visit he reported to me lots of "Vaping" @ USAFA. He never mentioned inside the rooms

My limited online search--apart from the vaping proponents--indicated that there are health issues associated with it and the long-term effects are of yet unknown. This is why I was surprised that it was going on in rooms.

According to USAFA policy, it is banned inside the dorms and there can be pretty serious consequences for those who are caught breaking the rule.

Dude, vaping is bad for ya, give it up. There is no time for that in a S.A.
