Hope I'm not too far off-topic with this question but this board seems to be more "traveled" than the 'Parents Board'.

Question: USNA has a home Game with Memphis during 2C weekend. The letter we have from USNA on 2c weekend activities references the game:

"The Weekend will also include a Navy Football game vs. Memphis. There will be no registration or check-in required"

Does this mean:
  • As a 2c parent that the USNA is giving me a ticket for the Memphis Game?
  • If I am given a ticket to the game will I be sitting in a section reserved for other 2c parents?
  • Will 2cs be allowed to sit with parents for this game (I assume not, but ???).
Thanks in advance for Answers. I am happy to pick-up tickets myself, but if there is gonna be a 2c parents group at the stadium that's where I'd wanna sit.

Note: Lots of reasons for a Mid Parent to pay attention to Navy Football. I've really enjoyed the USNA games I have attended; (Houston 2016 and USAFA 2017). It's really fun to watch "real student athletes "punch above their weight" most weekends.

BTW: 2018 is "The Year of the Dawg"

As for tickets, I think your mid can requisition them and it comes out of his pay, with a discount I hope. I doubt you are given a ticket! Ticket revenues are the funding engine behind funding NCAA sports programs.

There is an order to the seats that are sold on a one-off basis. Check the USNA ticket website or call. There may be blocks/areas set aside for tickets bought by mids.

Usually only 1/c are allowed to sit away from the Brigade with family, BF or GF or other guest. I am not sure if 2/c are allowed to do so for this game. Sounds like a tasker for your mid. Current mids/recent grads may offer insights on that, but always remember just because X was the policy one year, does not mean it won’t be Y the following year. You can’t have the Brigade section looking scraggly and less than full. There are always mids missing from the Brigade section - on watch back at Bancroft, SIQ (ill in room), traveling for other sports, on watch at the game, traveling for other reasons, the football team itself, and so on.

Your mid is in the best position to research all this.

  • As a 2c parent that the USNA is giving me a ticket for the Memphis Game? NO
  • If I am given a ticket to the game will I be sitting in a section reserved for other 2c parents? See above
  • Will 2cs be allowed to sit with parents for this game (I assume not, but ???). NO they will be with their company. If it is a win then the Dant usually offers a weekend meaning your kids can be with you until Sunday at 18:00.
Go to stubhub.com There are plenty of tickets available.

Thanks for the responses, I will get on the tickets.

I agree that this ought to be tasked to the Mid. That said, 2 days into the semester DD is already juggling; squad duty, USNA debate team, prep to coach Annapolis HS debate team and a new USNA sports team,----------- oh, and class work. She sounded tired and stressed (already) last time I talked with her. I have only so many "Chits" with her, and I intend to call those in when I push her for participation in the MOs for either or both of ND and USAFA games.

Bought my tickets online
They said they would come in the mail shortly before the game
Sure hope they do

There are a lot of 2/c parties outside the stadium under the tents and around the cars. You can find them. Mids and parents get some great free food after the game. DD was P****d that she had to pay for tickets for home games even though she was required for March On. My answer: They never told you about voluntold. DD always snuck out some time to spend time with us in the stands especially at Army/Navy. We bought Bill The Goat tickets one year and little DD went into the Mid section with her sister without problem. She did not have to do pushups.

She said they were charged for home games! Navy Sports is separate from USNA.

Midshipmen pay for football tickets now ? There's something wrong with that.
You paid for them and did not know it. As I recall, "they" automatically took out the $$s out of your Midshipman Account. Even in season Varsity Athletes got dinged for the $$ as it was an "all hands deduction"

They see the ticket costs on their accounts. It is not all free but they have to look for it. Go Navy Beat Army.

It’s possible they changed things in the last 4 years, but when I was a 2/C, we WERE allowed to sit with family for that game. You did have to pay for that seat though.

-- I don't remember any specific line item, but of course, probably covered in the Midshipman Activities Fund, etc. I do recall it was a common question for Plebes the night before the first game, asking them if they had "bought" their tickets yet. Alot of puzzled looks.
