Hello everyone,

I have finished half of my application for USAFA which means that my DoDMERB scheduling will now open. If I am applying to more than one Academy will my DoDMERB examination be a one time thing or would I need all individual DoDMERB examinations for each Service Academy I apply to?

A one time thing. When the others try to schedule the DoDMERB exam, they'll find the results of the USAFA exam (or whichever is first) and use that. The government is sometimes inefficient, but not that inefficient.

My DS is ready to schedule his DoDMERB exam. He had surgery of small finger fracture with screw 3 months ago which already healed and was cleared and discharged by his doctor. We’re assuming he might be DQ’d and we’re ready for that. I already requested his medical records. Does he need to bring this on his DoDMERB exam and submit this records or wait until he get a waiver? Thanks.

It doesn't hurt to bring it for documentation.

Also for those applying to multiple SA/ROTC scholarships, please understand that if you do get a DQ, the waivers come from the commissioning source. For example, many kids may suddenly find out that they have some eye issue. USAFA might say that they will waive the DQ, but USNA may say no.
~ This also can mean that USMA may say no, but AROTC my say yes, because even though they are the same branch, they are different commissioning sources since 1 means you will go AD (USMA) the other does not demand that you go AD (AROTC)

Very good point, however, if at all possible, it’s best to quickly address any issue at the DoDMERB level before it enters a SA waiver process. Timing is incredibly important. So, then the DQ could possibly be resolved, which is a huge reliever of stress, and then the DS or DD is medically qualified for all, including ROTC.
