3/C here did NROTC last year and did not like it and have found since then that I want to commission into the Army. I do not know what to do to get the ball rolling on that not do not know what I want to do other than infantry/ infantry support.

Just walk down to Army dept. If you’re GPA is solid, you’ll get a scholarship very quick as long as you’re committed to Army. They will also probably be sending an email out and/or coming and talking to the other branches during PTT to take people who want to transfer.

Good advice from 2017+3, talk to Ms. Ruffin or Mr. A and they should be able to get things moving for you but would recommend you make that contact this week so it can be scheduled before you do final registration next week. Less about scheduling your class and lab and more about getting an optimal time to get your other classes scheduled around it. Dont' worry about coming in as a third, I had classmates that waited until 1/C year to contract and as long as you can PT and understand the basics of squad and platoon ops you will be just fine.

No problem with seeking out Army, but why don't you consider the Corps since you are already doing NROTC? There may be good reasons, but I felt I had to ask.

Been looking at MC, thinking about it, but have questions. What are my options for commissioning? Is there a Best way to do it? My GPA is not that spectacular due to family stuff going on last year but so far this year things are going better.

You have two good options now. 1. Stay with NROTC and at VMI it is fairly easy to switch from N to MC if you are not on scholarship. 2. Talk to the OSO from Roanoke office about PLC. VMI NROTC will still let you do Bulldog prep and then you go to OCS between 3/C and 2/C year and again between 2/C and 1/C year. Talk to MC Option First Classmen who have done both routes to figure out what will work best for you.
