I'm going to take my CFA soon, and I've been practicing every Saturday while every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I lift and workout, while every Tuesday and Thursday I run for at least a mile. Listening to music helps me A LOT. Am I allowed to listen to music during the CFA? At least for the mile run?

BTW, please make sure you are training for all of the CFA events back to back, in order, to replicate the real CFA test.

If and when you reach USAFA, you will do a lot of running. A few miles at a time. At high altitude. At different times of the day. Sometimes wearing something other than running shorts and running shoes. And you will not be permitted to listen to music.

So knowing all that, if you need music to get through the CFA’s one-mile run, well....

To be safe I have stopped listening to music and have gotten a mile done in 5:25. Thanks!

@AirForceProud, thanks for the update. Looks like your CFA will be just fine. You can celebrate with some tunes afterward!

That's great time, that 5:25. Did you do it AFTER completing ALL aspects of the CFA? If not - I'm betting you add close to two minutes to your time when you do. You should practice for the CFA as if you are doing the CFA. In order. Timed.

I agree with fencersmother. Practicing the entire CFA is key. Surprisingly, my son felt that the sit-ups impacted the run more than anything. Amazing how much a sit-up affects the legs. Regarding a 2min impact, that is a bit much. I figured it is about a 12-15% increase to your typical mile time. So keep running, under 6 mins is a definite possibility. If you don't have time to run through the entire CFA, do a few sets of flutter kicks and some grenades before you run. It will give you a sense of the impact of the other events.
