On my son's online application, he's submitted everything within his control. The CPDR, SAT/ACT scores, High School Transcripts, CAR, Candidate Statements, CFA, CFA videos and 2 of the 4 letters of recommendation are all complete.

However the DODMERM section states "No Action" and "We are currently taking no action on your DODMERB exam. You DO NOT want to stay in this status for long. We will request an exam for you when you have submitted sufficient material and completed as much of the application as we require and are a competitive candidate."

His test SAT and ACT scores are 99th/98th percentile, 3.7 GPA, Varsity Football Captain and recommendations should all be very good.

Why would this still be in "No Action" status?

Sounds like his application file has just not been updated yet. I suspect status will change by Wednesday. Tried to send you a PM, but you need a few more posts.

It took about a week for my status to change. then

It took about a week for my status to change after my entire application was complete. You then should get an email from DODMETS with log in information.

AFAIK, the DODMETS email will be sent to you once you have enough of your application completed. After submitting two missing documents a few weeks ago, I was immediately sent the email.

Thanks for all the replies. As of this morning, his application is 100% complete, so hopefully the email gets to him soon. It was a little confusing--it seemed that many candidates got a DODMETS email before the application was completed.

West Point typically don’t authorize DODMERB exam unless the candidate is competitive and completes most of his or her application (yes, there are many exceptions). ROTC and other SAs have different triggers for authorizing DODMERB exams. So an application who hasn’t done anything with West Point application might get DODMERB email because another commissioning source requested it.
