The Army will convert one Stryker brigade combat team into an armored brigade combat team next year and an infantry brigade combat team to a Stryker brigade combat team in 2020.

Seems like we're starting to see what $700B will do.
The Navy is also looking to spend more on the amphibious fleet which I obviously approve of.

What torques me and has for decades is congress pushing equipment and systems on the services when they didn't ask for it. Navy is getting three LCS ships they didn't ask for due to congressional pork markups. To make it worse, funding has been cut for mission module development which affects the ships' ability to do anything.

Since when has Congress ever done anything sensible? The place is a circus.

In fact it brings to mind a line from the somewhat recent TV series "Deadwood". One of the characters, as I recall, had just sliced open a woman's throat in order to save his girlfriend from someone else. He later stated "God will probably not forgive me for the things I have done.... but thank God I'm not a politician." :D

From the Broadway Play 1776 - John Adams: I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress!

Some things are timeless!
