Hello,

I recently received the information that I was "Boarded/Under Consideration" from the AROTC first selection board. Does anyone know if it is possible to receive specific information from the board on what ranking I had or what exactly I need to improve?

It means your packet is being reviewed by the board or already has been reviewed. They aren't gonna tell you what you need to work on. If you contact the ROO at whatever school you are most interested in (A school that is listed on your app) then he or she can tell you what to work on.

This is good advice, and what I advised DS to do, but it's my understanding that once an application is reviewed, it never gets looked at again. Is that accurate? So like even if DS's GPA increases after this semester and he posts new GPA and new transcript, or he uploads a new recommendation letter, it won't matter because they won't look at his file again. Would this be an accurate statement?

Yes correct. You only get boarded once. They give you a score at that board and that's it.

"Boarded/Under Consideration"

This means that you have been boarded, your application has been reviewed and scored and you have been placed on the OML. If you did not receive a scholarship offer from the first board you will be rolled over to the next board. You will not be reviewed by a board again, you will simply be rolled over with the score you received when you were first reviewed.

Best of Luck

Once you have been boarded some things can be changed and some will not. You can’t change your PMS interview score, or the board score. You can add to your “activities” or update your SAT/ACT scores. You can’t retake the CBEF. You can retake your PFT. Don’t freak out because you didn’t get a first round offer. Double check your application to see if you left anything out. Retake your SATs or ACTs if you think your score could be improved and make sure you are working on plan B and communicating with the ROOs at your school of choice.

Can DS add a letter of recommendation? His XC coach did t have it done in time for the first board.

He can, but it’s not going to help. First... if he has already been boarded the board will not relook at his file...second...Cadet Command does not ask for LORs and the board doesn’t really have the time to read every LOR, so filling your app up with documents that aren’t going to be looked at is not helpful. Third...I assume that LOR says your son is a great kid, just like every other kid that applied. Now, if your son forgot to add on his activities tab that he runs XC, or he was recently selected to be the Captain of the team and didn’t check that block yet have him go back in and check those blocks. That is something that can change his OML score.

Not time to panic yet...Most kids don’t get a first round offer.

Can I also update my ACT score? Because I took it today and I know I did better on math

I was boarded / under consideration on Thursday evening. Then on Friday afternoon I received an offer of APPOINTMENT to the UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY!!
