DS applied and was accepted to the Citadel. We were hoping to get an ROTC Scholarship. However, we were lucky enough to get an ECP scholarship to Valley Forge. Will DS need to reapply to the Citadel again after graduating from Valley Forge?

That's great, and yes he would. After he commissions as a Second Lieutenant. Also have a question. When were you notified of the ECP? How soon after the 1st board?

We were reviewed at the 1st board and did not make the cut. Our packet was pushed to the second board. The same week that the results came out for the second board (did not receive a national ROTC scholarship at board 2 - which is the board that I thought he had an excellent chance at) we received notification of the ECP scholarship. In the following days we were inundated with literature from all of the JMCs. The thing about ECP is that the cutoff for acceptance was the week before the 3rd Board. And once accepted you are no longer eligible for consideration for the national ROTC. So of course we will never know what the 3rd board results held for us. So the decision really came down to, take the bird in the hand, a full ride (ECP plus Valley Forge Scholarship) or roll the dice and take our chances with board #3.

Once we visited the school DS instantly fell in love with it. It really is one of the most beautiful college campuses I have ever been to. And DS is leaving the dream there. Leadership position, Cadet of the month, etc. And since he is also an SMP soldier, along with ECP stipend, he is basically being paid to go to college. Of course becoming a 2LT next school year is also great motivation. Lol
