DS is just submitting his application tonight. I see several have already been awarded even though the deadline is 12/31 (I think). just wondering if he waited too long.

No, he's fine. Earlier is better but there are boards that will award scholarships through to April. Get it done as soon as possible though to allow "multiple" looks by the upcoming board. If he is not awarded a scholarship by a board, then he will automatically be rolled over to the next board for consideration at a subsequent board. Keep in mind that you may not receive a response, positive or negative, until mid-April so be patient and keep working plans B, C, D, and E.

My comments above apply to Navy option. There are only 2 Marine Option boards and the first is in November. If he's applying for Marines he should hurry, but if he nisses that board it's not the end of the world. The second board is late Feb or early March. The first 2 characters of your screen name had me thinking thar.perhaps he's applying Marine Option.

It's not too late. My DD completed her NROTC application and officer interview the last week of January 2017 and was awarded a 4-year scholarship in the last week of April.
