The deadline for CULP applications was 31 October. Based on the folks that posted on this forum last year about CULP Assignments, it appears that many Cadets may be hearing isn’t he next few days. Folks last year were notified on 6 November but it wasn’t clear how they were being notified (email, blackboard, Cadet Portal, etc.). My DD will be anxiously checking all three in hopes that she will get an assignment soon.

Does anyone know HOW the cadets are notified for certain?

Wow. That seems awfully quick given that the application process just closed. DS applies as a contracted freshman last year but was not selected. Hoping for better luck this year. Would also be curious to know how they are notified.

I did it two years ago. Wasn’t notified till the beginning of December. It comes through blackboard and email.

DD was just notified that CULP assignments have been released. Unfortunately, she did not get an assignment. She is disappointed because she really wants to do something with ROTC this summer, but her options are exhausted as an MS1

She initially asked about Advanced Individual Training (Airborne or Air Assault) Amd was told that she was ineligible because she had not maxed her PT test (she has a record test of 264). She applied for CULP with a 4.0 gpa from the summer and midterm grades both ROTC and regular classes), APFT of 264 and a self assessment of “fair” for Spanish. Evidently, that didn’t get her high enough on the OML.

Are there any other options for her for the summer in ROTC? CLDT seems a reach as an MS1.....not sure what else she can apply for????

Sorry to hear that. DS didn’t get it as an MS1 either. He just was notified that he did get it for this year though so she should definitely reapply as an MS2. DS also hoped to get something else last summer (4.0 gpa as an engineering student, decent PFT) but nothing was offered. I have heard other people suggest project GO although I’m not sure of the timing for applying for that.

She could apply for Project Go, if she is interested in learning a critical language. It is very intensive. She has until the end of January to apply.

How did your DD know that she didn't get an assignment?

My younger son applied for CULP as a MS1 and was accepted, now this was back for the summer of 2012. While on the CULP mission the Major did say that there was talk of not accepting as many MS1's in the future, no official reason was given although the Major thought it might be because contracted MS1's have until the day before the start of their sophomore year to drop ROTC without any service or financial obligation to the Army. Mainly that the Army did not want to risk a large amount of CULP funding on cadets that still had no obligation to the Army. Seems like this may have more to do with why some were not selected rather then their stats which for many would have been more then enough. I know that some MS1's do get selected but I think those numbers are a lot smaller then in previous years. I think the same is true for why MS1's are not given slots to Airborne, Air Assault, et.

Her ROTC Cadre notified her this afternoon.

Congrats to your son! Where is he going for CULP this summer?

Does anyone know are the announcements all done at once or in waves?

Have not been able to get in contact with my HRA for the past couple days. If they did not update our PFT score from this year in CCIMM can they update it and will it reflect even after the deadline has passed in our submitted application

My DD just found out that she received a CULP mission and she is very excited. She was notified by her cadre today, they announced during MSL class. She is headed to Thailand in May. I know some were notified last week, however, her battalion were just told of their assignments today.

My DS went to Thailand this past summer for CULP and loved it. Congrats to her.
